If you were on a dial-up before, and not accessing the dial-up connection from another computer that was linked to the router using ICS or some other connection sharing utility, you weren't going through your router when you were connected to the net.
I'm not familiar with the Netgear DC814. You'll have to check its docs to see if it 1) has a fire wall and 2) how to configure it.
Here are two things to try and help isolate the problem:
- Try connecting via your dial-up and see if ACARS runs.
- See if you can connect to any of the VPC chat rooms.
If the first works, then its a problem with your DSL connection settings. If the second works in DSL and dial-up, then you have a corrupted ACARS file.
