Upon reading this, it occurred to me that there are two "chat" clients that we offer. If the one you used listed several buttons along the bottom of the application (the one launched by the Launch button), then that's the one we meant for you to try. The other chat application we offer is a Java application and while it does help us (it also uses port 6667, so it would eliminate that as a problem), unless you can tell us if the other application works or not (the one with the buttons) we won't be able to isolate where to start looking for the problem.

If you can connect to any chat using either application indicates that port 6667 is indeed open and usable. Please see above and let us know.
