Dave Hamblin
(formerly DaveH on old site!)

"I've seen pilots make forced landings following a go-around; the engine quit as power was applied, or shortly thereafter, and the aircraft was forced to land.

Yup, thats the scenerio the one pilot (also with a 150) had happen!

My CFI/friend tolerates my "over use" of carb heat. You are right, the POH (for a 1968 C150) doesn't have a whole lot of info, just a few recommendations.

On a touch and go and/or go around I can (at least on the 150) push the carb heat off with my thumb as I push in the throttle, so the heat is coming off as the power is coming up.

Due to my "paranoia" I typically throttle up during long descents and practice engine failures just to make sure I still have an engine.

We have an EGT but not a carb air temperature gage on it.

Thanks for your thoughts and experiences!!
