Yup, thats the scenerio the one pilot (also with a 150) had happen!
My CFI/friend tolerates my "over use" of carb heat. You are right, the POH (for a 1968 C150) doesn't have a whole lot of info, just a few recommendations.
On a touch and go and/or go around I can (at least on the 150) push the carb heat off with my thumb as I push in the throttle, so the heat is coming off as the power is coming up.
Due to my "paranoia" I typically throttle up during long descents and practice engine failures just to make sure I still have an engine.
We have an EGT but not a carb air temperature gage on it.
