"NVIDIA (Again)"

G,day all.. sorry to miss the chat & RW y,stday, the reason being...
Yesterday I had installed further RAM up to 320Mb also

3DForce 2MX series NVIDIA Ge Force 2 MX Ver. 4.12.01.0631

Downloaded NVIDIA (3D stereo) Win. 9X driver (V.12.41) 3.6Mb

Also have fs.2000 pro. update 2b installed.

Having done all this to my disgust the FS2K "Freezes" on the "loading Scenery" or on default Meigs Field.. The loading icon remains in the window, but the only way out is to switch off power to the CPU.
All other programs appear to be operating ( even an old Golf game) but FS2K just won,t co-operate.

Any advice will be welcome (before my licence expires though lack of flying time :)

TIA
AndyC

Hi Andy

I wonder if you could give us a bit more info about your system, Motherboard make (BIOS Version), and CPU Make etc.

One thing you could try (if you haven't already), is using 'EndItAll' before starting FS2K.

Cheers!

Sam

Greetings Andy:

What version of DX are you using? The Detonator3 Drivers 12.41 are for DX8.

Please remind us what card you were running before. You might try renaming your fs2000.cfg file and starting FS2K again. What I'm thinking is that you've got some setting from your old card left over in that file.

Let us know how you make out.

Ben

Many thanks Ben and Madape.. will reply to both in one message.

1. Ben Previous card was Diamond Viper V770.
Have a horrible feeling DX version is DX7 .. will confirm. How to rename FS 2000 cfg. file and to what ?

2. Madape Motherboard GA-BX2000 Intel 440BX AGP Set
Pentium 111/11 Processor Mainboard
Gigabyte Dual Bios (Intel chipset series)NSTl 2000
Certified Bios Dual Bios Technology.
C.P.U. Wisetek Genuine Intel Pentium 111 320Mb RAM

"End it All" (I am not THAT desperate YET Madape ! :)
but how do I go about that ?

Again I hope you will forgive my bumbling fumbling approach but I plead "newbie" status and if I have gone for overkill with the information pls excuse me
Again TIA
Regards AndyC

Andy:

If you have DX7a, just load up the drivers that came with your card.

Renaming your FS2000.cfg file is simple:

1. FS2000.cfg is in your FS folder.
2. Right click on it and select rename.
3. Rename the file FS2000.old

Let us know if that does the trick for you.

Ben

Hi Andy

FS2K (like an other MS Application) is very fussy when other programs are working in the background, and sometimes other programs conflict with FS2K (whether its File Sharing, or Memory Allocation).

There is a way to run FS2K without running anything else in the background, the 'EndItAll' program closing all windows task and services except for 'Explorer' and 'SysTray' (which are needed for the computer to keep the computer running stable), thus leaving your computer free of background task, that might might intefere with it.

Hope that Helps

Sam
