"Andor's First Flights"

Greetings! After several months of tearing holes in the virtual skies flying online with us, Andy decided it was time to try the real thing. Here's what he just sent in.
Well done, Andy! Please keep us posted on your progress.
Ben
=====================================================

I think the "inane grin" just about sums up my feelings after the first Introductory flight which surpassed all my expectations, you young guys out there, don't care how you manage it but do yourselves a favour and get up there flying.
The first session was an all too short "Introductory" flight of about 30 mins. and consisted of ( apart from seeing if I could fit into the Left Hand seat Cessna 152
pre-flight external check list of aircraft, cockpit checklist, taxi-ing (very hard steering with ones FEET) the take off and flight (breathtaking) and landing/taxi-ing. No de-brief.
The first lesson (proper) consisted of pre-flight brief (approx 20mins) take off/ flight /landing (1. Hour) then De-Brief (approx 20mins)
The fees I had quoted Ben were for the Aircraft and Instructors, whom, I must say were the calmest, nicest guys one could hope to meet, then of course I should have known that having (almost) met you guys.
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,Congratulations on that first step, I hope the rest of your training goes well and you still retain the 'Cheshire Cat' grin
It's nice to show the 'young guns' that us more mature members can still get that 'inane grin'
The best I ever did was a week's gliding course some 30 years ago, really enjoyed it but did not continue the training
I attempted gliding again about 3 years ago but had lost the 'seat of the pants' ability gained 30 years ago so gave up. So it's simming for me now.
Keep us informed of your progress, I'm sure we all like a good read.

Hey Andy - Nice to know you're an old coot like me (65). Next lesson, try holding the yoke with your fingertips - I think I can see mold release compound dripping from the yoke from the firm grip you've got on it
.
Hope you get to fly as much as possible -
Congrats!

Congratulations, Andy.Your description brings back memories of my past flying.
20 hours in a brand-new C-150 in 1965. The plane in your
picture looks pretty new also. Then some glider time in
1980 and some more in 2001 for a total of 12 hours. Then,
just recently I decided to go for the big one <g>, and
started lessons in a C-152 and then, a C-172 Skyhawk.
The planes are pretty beat up but at least they fly.
Will post a picture as soon as I can. I'm flying at
Norwood, MA KOWD.
Keep up the good work - looking forward to more pictures
and descriptions.
Alan

Congratulations Andy. Great picture. It is nice to put a face to the guy I have chatted with on so many Tuesday and Thursday nights. Handsome fellow! What a grand experience you will have. No one ever forgets those first flight lessons.
I wish you well, and we want to hear more about your flight experiences.
