Hi Guy's,Just thought I'd drop you all a line to thank you all for turning out for the first Sunday flight. Although we had a few hick ups at the start (still can't work out what was wrong) we eventually got it together
Thanks again guy's.
One thing we did find which can make some flights we will be holding is that because we all use different versions of FS then the scenery is going to be different, hence, we may not be where we think we are
We will try to hopefully have some sort of a solution to this. The only two that come to mind at present is 1. We all run the same FS version (but not practical in some cases). 2. After the announcement of the flight we all rush around looking for some add on scenery.
I'm certainly open to any suggestions you may have so fire away by all means. The next flight will be on the 19th May as next week is the Monthly Flight Rally. Hope to see you all then to.
Regards,
James (CONman) Anderson

> Thanks again guy's.Thanks to you, James for hosting this. I think the event concept is very exciting. I find it very interesting to have someone point out what a landmark is and perhaps a bit of its history when I fly over it rather than just fly over a lot of unknown stuff. For me, this makes a flight much more interesting because as Dave points out in his column, for a lot of folks flying is about traveling from point A to point B, but for the rest of us, flying itself is the destination.
Anyway, from what I was gathering from the RW conversation (I was flying FS98, so I was only a listening to what you guys were doing), the original host of the session must remain in the game or others will not be able to join. This is because the system stores the IP address of the host and passes that along to anyone that joins afterwards. If I recall correctly Andy was the host, but dropped out, so when everyone else was trying to join, the IP they were getting no longer had a game running on it.
The other issue is the host must begin launch the flight first or others will not be able to join (again, if the flight does not already exist on that IP, there's no game to join). I think this is what you guys were running into the second time around.

I agree that there are some use of different version issues that need to be worked out. I think how much of an issue this really is depends on where we're flying. For example, flying in one of the major cities should be fine as most of the major landmarks are consistent across the versions. It's when you start flying over other areas that we'll run into problems. Nevertheless, Vic's coordinates worked out well for Jerry and me. We were able to find the airport at the end of the flight. Thank goodness!

Hi Ben,Thanks for your comments and you will more than likely be correct in why we were having problems connecting with each other
Hope we have a better attempt for the next one
(when I get some one to host it)
