I will be flying in either the Cessna RG or the Bell 206
This will be a leisurely trip of about an hour or two
See you on the ramp....

Hi Jerry, Ben and co.If my multiplayer fiasco today spoiled your enjoyment I do apologise, thanks for the patience and perseverance. I'd like to crack the problem, but with the cost of a two hour telephone connection in the UK being so high, I really can't justify wasting much more time without success. One more try perhaps.
Ben, you could be right about the shared modem connection's IP being hijacked by the server sharing it - do you have a note of the IP you were seeing? But in the recent trial run for multiplayer, I DID manage to connect and fly successfully when Jerry was hosting (I think I had trouble connecting when you were the host). At that time I didn't have RW running - maybe the problem is just too much workload for my poor little 233MHz CPU.
During my 45 minute absence in the middle of the flight, I installed a local modem, and logged on again shortly before you all landed. My first observation with the new modem, once I'd got the settings right, was that the computer was responding very roughly, sluggishly, even before starting FS. I found Jerry still had a flight running so I tried to join that. Twice I managed to connect and start FS, but on both occasions the modem lost the connection more or less immediately after I started flying.

Ben, a follow-up to my previous message. When I installed the local modem, I didn't get the settings quite right - it looks like I was talking to the ISP, but their system was dropping the connection after a short time. Made a few changes now, and it seems to stay connected. My machine is also running much more smoothly again after the changes - it may be worth another try after all.

Always happy to help, no need to apologize. We're all trying to enjoy our hobby and we've all had to go thru the setup frustrations<g>. Hang in there - it will get sorted out eventually and from your other posts - you seem to be on the right track.

Hi Alan,No need for an apology my friend. We were all having problems
one way or another
It was suggested/mentioned that it maybe a Network problem but Mike and I started 2 more flights from Networked pc's
so it's baffling to say the least at present
Week end and public holiday prices for the UK (Local Calls) are fairly good these day's are they not. I moved to BT ADSL some time ago so I no longer look at how long I'm connected

Sorry, I didn't write it down.

I'm on a new satellite connection and haven't played with it enough to know whether it's stable or not. This is why I had Jerry host the flight since he's on a straight dialup. A setup like his removes many potential problem areas so my thoughts were that it would help isolate the problem. Since you're able to connect to Jerry, and I read in another message that you got your modem issues sorted, I think that you'll be fine connecting to the others.
Welcome aboard!
Ben

Hi Ben,> Sorry, I didn't write it down.
Not a problem, but as the NT machine has a permanent IP, that would have confirmed one way or the other. (But surely, if NT is sharing the modem simply as a hardware device to a W98 machine, NT has no right to change the data on the way through?)

Yes, it should be worth another try, I may even get a headset microphone instead of the very expensive studio mic that I borrowed for the event.
