"Interesting Airports"

Greetings!

I received the following pix of Sedona Airport from one of my students who just returned from vacationing in Sedona, Arizona. (More of his pix can be found in our GA Adventure Logs.) This picture reminded me of some of the more interesting airports we've been flying to in FS during our informal flights on Saturdays, and I thought some of you might be interested in flying out of some of them or listing some of your favorite aiports.

  • VNLK - This is the closest airport to Mt. Everest. It's a "land one direction and take off the other direction" airport. Beware of density altitude!
  • AZ79 - This is reportedly to the shortest runway in the world. It seems like an ultralight airfield to me, but see what you think.
  • SABA - This is the shortest paved runway in the world. If you think Catalina is interesting, check this out. :)

This is a lot like the airports that Abacus is putting out for SW Utah. The Techbabe commented on the trip to St. George, that the scenery in FS2k2 looks like the stuff she saw on her last trip. As Sedona is just down the road a bit.. :)

    Pretty impressive shot too.
