"FSNav joining."

Posted by andor on 04-18-02 at 00:05z
With Multiplayer operational I have trouble bringing FSNav "online". In FSNav after clk. on Multiplayer connect the window "Enter Computer Name or IP Address of host, or leave blank to search" is shown.
1... Is the Computer name the name of the game (Flight)?
2... How to get the IP address of host.?

With regard to 2... when joining flight in "Fly Now" window I only get a flicker of the (yellow) Fly Now Launcher window. (Not sufficient time to read the hosts IP) This window appears and stays open on exit from Flight
Any help greatly appreciated.
TIA

Hi Andy -

Missed you at the chat last night. Hope all is OK.

Now let's see if I can explain the FSNAV joining -

You enter the IP address of the host which brings me to....

> 2... How to get the IP address of host.?

The VPC Launcher stays open *behind* the FS2k2 window. You can't see it in full screen mode. What I do is press ALT-ENTER to switch to windowed mode, minimize the FS2k2 window. You'll see the VPCLauncher - note the IP address - leave launcher alone - maximize the fs2k2 window - ALT-ENTER to go to full screen *THEN* bring up FSNAV and join the Multiplayer but follownigthe steps to insert the host IP. You should then be seen in both FSNAV and FS2k2.

Vic

PMFJI Vic,

If I read this thread correctly Andy is trying to get FSNav into multiplayer mode to see other aircraft and you talk about switching FS to full screen.

When you select multiplayer in FSNav it gives a warning that you need to be in 'windowed' mode doesn't it?

Yes it does but that is just for the initial connection. Once connected, I close FSNAV window (F9), ALT-ENTER to switch FS2k2 to full screen 3d, F9 again to bring back FSNAV and then CTRL-F9 to shrink FSNAV window to a manageable size. OF course, those are my steps, you could just ALT-ENTER to switch FS2k2 back to full screen with no problem.

OK. I thought you had to be in windowed mode all the time for FSnav multiplayer to work. Can't say for sure because I never run FS in full screen mode.
