"EFIS98 & FS2k2"

Does anyone know if it's possible to run EFIS'98 with FS2k2? I'm sure I read somewhere that it was, but I can't remember where I read that!
I've been trying to set it up on my other machine using the latest WideFS (Thanks Pete!), but with no luck. It seems to start OK, but then I get a multiple cascading error message window saying 'Access violation at address 004A566E in module EFIS.EXE...'

Any help appreciated!

Through WideFS or direct through FSUIPC it runs as if it was on FS98, as FSUIPC and WIDEFS provide an FS98 interface for it.

There are certainly EFIS98 users running it with FS2002. I'm usually running Project Magenta instead, but I still have my EFIS98 installation intact from way back, and I just tried it through WideFS and it seems perfectly okay -- the FD button of course doesn't operate FS2002's FD, but it does what is intended in the sense of selecting or managing the A/P functions. The FS FD is simply the visual indication on the PFD.

Ouch ... that sounds like an installation problem of some sort. Did you do a complete fresh install of EFIS98? It may be a problem with out of date or incompatible DLLs in the Windows\Systems folder -- things like MFC40.DLL and MSVCRT40.DLL amongst others.

Well, when I get faced with things like that it comes down to reinstall, then trial-and-error, I'm afraid.

Good luck!

Pete
