Well, we finally made it. The VPC Offline Reader has passed through our internal testing phase, and I'm proud to announce that we're ready to let the general membership have a crack at it. The beta release for this testing phase will be RC1 (release candidate 1), which kind of lets you know how close we really are to the general release. The general beta test will be very limited so sign up fast if you would like to participate. As previously, all crew members are always eligible, so if you've recently achieved crew status and would like to help, just let me know.

Beta sign-ups will be taken ONLY at this email address: vpcbeta@crew.flightadventures.com If you post here (or another email address, it will not be counted as a signup. I'll take signups until Wednesday 2359z, or until the available slots are full. When you apply, you'll recieve an email confirming your sign-up and acceptance. After the beta sign-ups are closed, I'll contact everyone via email with the download site and installation instructions. If the beta fills up fast, and you don't make it in, please understand. We expect this phase to only last a couple of weeks, then we'll be ready for the first official release!

Hi Mike and the gang!

Thought I would poke my head in here as a friend of mine said her father was having difficulty installing a new flight sim. He's 78 and still flying Cessnas too <g>. Gave her the URL so hopefully he'll drop by sign up.

So, you managed to create an off-line reader for a web based forum before Compuserve ever could. Hats off to ya! I'm spending most of my play time in simulators as well, but of the four wheel ground based variety . C you guys around... you never know when I'll show my ugly mug again.

I don't really think Compuserve really tried in all honesty. How would they be able to show the ads?

Well, if those ground based sims are MP capable using directx, then feel free to use our flight terminal for MP with your buds. The last group of "flights" in the flight terminal are slated for "other" directx sims. We're nondiscriminatory around here
