"What happened to the old FsForum Library?"
Posted by jimh on 03-19-02 at 22:53z
Hi Everyone,I've been collecting ATC chatter files, but have found very few European ones, outside the UK.
I thought the old library should have some, but where is it....?
If anyone can help with my original quest, with some other sources, I'd be grateful. (I've exhausted Avsim and Flightsim)
Regards, Jim H.

Greetings Jim:Here's the status of the File Library:
New T1 line is in! (Finally!)
But the new server has been very flaky (it would trash the FAT table of the RAID drives intermittently). The server is currently at the shop getting a new SCSI RAID controller installed and stress tested. If all goes well (if the problem was indeed a bad SCSI controller), we should have the new file server online next week.
Regardless, if you know the file you're looking for, drop greenie a note and I'm sure he'll just email them to you.
Thanks for your patience.
Ben

Hi Ben,Thanks for the library update. It'll be great when it comes on line, and I hope it soon regains its old status.
Unfortunately I don't have any file names. I'm simply trying to ferret out chatter files from the countries of Europe, for my copy of Dave March's FDC.
I'm glad to see the message board seems to have come alive recently. Do you have an OLR now? If so, how do I get it?
Best wishes, Jim

That's our hope as well. Once we have the file library up and running, we just need to update the Flight Rooms, and we'll be ready to go Live--VPC version 1.0 will be completed and ready for the world!

I believe Greenie has a searchable list, he may be able to search the descriptions for you. I'm sure he'll jump in here and let you know.

Yes we do! It's only available/open to VPC Crew (which I see you are) right now. Drop Greenie a note and let him know you want to play with the current OLR. Actually, there's a thread about it here in the FSFORUM a few days ago.

Hi Ben,Thanks. I saw a bit about the OLR, after I had posted to you. I sent an email to Greenie, but he may not have received it, for I now have that message in my sent items, AND in my own Inbox. Really weird! I've never seen that before!
Cheers, Jim

Hi Emile,Thanks for the link.
I didn't find what I was looking for there, but that may have been due to my poor french.
I fly mostly over the Uk and Europe. I have a new copy of Dave March's Flight Deck Companion, and I am seeking Chatter files for it. There are masses of UK files, but chatter from the countries of the European Mainland seem to be scarce in the main flightsim libraries.

Hi Emile,Thanks for the new links, but I think you may have misunderstood.
I'm not looking for maps or charts. I'm looking for collections of sound clips, of VHF conversations between Controllers and Pilots, often called Chatter Files.
They are for an addon called Flight Deck Companion, which you can find at http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk
