"nVidia Emblem in 3D screens?"
Posted by PeteDowson on 03-19-02 at 10:58z
Hi folks,All of a sudden, since yesterday, I'm getting an embossed-looking nVidia emblem in the bottom right corner of FS2002 and FS2000 3D windows. I don't know what I've done to deserve it, and I can't find the option, if there is one, to get rid of it.
I seem to remember this happening to someone back in CompuServe's FSForum, but I've gone and deleted my complete OzWIN installation now and can't check the archived messages.
Anyone here know how to remove this annoying advertisement, please?
Regards,
Pete

Pete,
I do remember reading that there IS an option to turn on this logo in 3D mode....and so there must also be an option to turn it off.
I believe that the option is only for the Ti cards....I know it is in my GeForce4 Ti 4600...but can't remember seeing it in the GeForce 440's.
Regards,
Mel

Yes, I seem to remember that, but it isn't in the display properties. I'll probably need to get rid of it by editing the Registry, but I had a look and there's nothing obvious.

Oh, I've got nothing that up-to-date. This is on a GeForce 2 Ultra, using drivers 10.50 (normally). I've tried several different driver versions over the last few hours but the emblem is still there and I've not seen any option yet.

Pete

I'm using Win98SE, but there's no checkbox for an Icon
Could you tell me the version number of your nVidia drivers, please? If I install those then I should be able to switch the emblem off even if I then go back to 10.50 -- or at least I can detect which Registry item is being changed. I think it must be merely a bit in a set of property flags. There's no key suggesting this property by itself.
Thanks,
Pete

Hi Emile,> Hello, I am running 23.11 driver
Great! Cracked it! I installed that, found the option, disabled it, checked it in FS (okay), simultaneously verifying that this driver caused my FS2000 and FS2002 to hang solid*, went back to my favourite 10.50 drivers, and the emblem is gone!
Thanks!
Pete
* I don't know why but all drivers 12.xx and later hang the PC with FS2000 or FS2002 on my PC. Sometimes this is almost immediately, sometimes after a few hours. Version 10.50 I found never seem to hang, so I'm sticking to them, at least till I upgrade my video card! <G>

I checked my CIS message base and found this article:
>>I have had this on my GeForce 3.There is an option in the settings to turn it off.
To get ther I did the following.
Start
Control Panel
Display Properties
Settings
Advanced
GeForce3
Additional Properties
Direct 3D
Uncheck "Display Logo when running Direct 3D applications."
Hope this helps. I am running the 21.83 drivers but I would think the settings would be the same for the 14.10 drivers.<<

Guido

Hi Guido,

Thanks,
Pete

Hi PeteIt was I
Bob Buckley of Coventry produced the answer and, if I can, I will copy his reply herein:

Cor!! I think I,ve done it. I do remember that earlier versions did not have this default nuisance and to get rid of it you had to restore the version which put it in.

Norm at Sunrise, FLHi Pete!
Run MSCONFIG and check the STARTUP section. See if there is
any reference to nVidia there. If yes, just delete it.
Cheers!

No, there wasn't anything there. On my flying machine I'm always checking and making sure nothing I don't want is running at start-up. I did get rid of the emblem though, by loading a more recent version of the nVidia drivers, finding and clearing the option, then going back to my older (working) drivers.
Thanks
Pete

Didn't read all replies, but if no answer yet, trywin98(other may be similare)
control panel->display->settings->advanced->
GEforce tab or something similar naming your card model->
advanced->3dsettings
should be a 'display logo' option (used by vendors on their sales countertop monitors or somesuch reason)
If this doesn't work, yell and I will try to find the actual reg entry for you.

That was the first place I went, but there was no such option in the driver version I was using. Someone else mentioned that the option did appear on a specific later version, so I installed that, used it to turn the logo off, then went back to my nice old stable version! <G>
Thanks!
