"Suddenly getting emails from VPC"
Posted by PaulCroft on 03-18-02 at 23:27z
Hi y'allSuddenly I've received two emails, timed at 18:56 and 20:18 GMT, from flight adventures, telling me about new messages on the Forum message board.
Is this something new the VPC is doing? Is it something I've requested and need to turn off? I haven't had any of these messages before and, now that I'm using the OLR at least once a day, I don't need to be informed of new messages.
Guidance appreciated please.

We've had the subscription feature for quite some time, but it hasn't been working. It wasn't until someone made a comment in another thread about not getting email notifications that I stumbled on to the solution.
Anyway, if you don't wish to receive notices of new messages (as opposed to notification of replies to threads), you'll need to turn off the Subscribe to forums option in User. Just FYI, the default is off, so you must have enabled it sometime.
Yes, I agree, the OLR is a better solution if you can't check for messages via the web regularly.

Thanks for the explanation Ben, I'll modify my user settings.
