"FS2K2 Slew Mode."
Posted by andor on 03-07-02 at 03:23z
Am having trouble with the Slew Mode functions in FS2K2, all aircraft, Alt.Increase/Decrease OK-- Left/Right OK, but Ahead speed remains flickering between 2 & 14 knots, Num.Lock off etc. Anyone experience the same and any ideas on cause much appreciated.
TIA,
Regards All,
Andyc

If you have a joystick or yoke connected to your computer, the FS series has defaulted to using the "elevator" axis for controlling forward/back in slew mode. Try using that or just disable it (Options:Controls:Disable Joystick -- CTRL + k or j if I recall correctly) when you slew.
Hope this helps!

Hi Ben,
I have a similar problem, except in my case the slew speed is a little faster than the aircraft's normal cruise speed. Using the elevator axis as you suggest makes no difference. I'd be interested in a solution too, if anyone has one.

Thx guys for the suggestions , have tried them out with erratic results, ie hold down Num 8 and suddenly doing 3000+ knots, or 2knots apparently at will.
Ah- Well back to the old "Drag and Drop" in Map view, at least can see where one,s going

Well I never, that's a new one on me. Must read the instructions more often! I tend to use FSNav for that sort of rapid change of location but map view D&D has its advantages.

Slew mode is a way to move the aircraft to another position and attitude without actually flying there. It works more like a repositioning rather than a teleportation. Try it out. To toggle to slew mode, press the Y key.
Hope this helps!

Greetings Ben,
I use the "Compass-card" icon available in the Pit, this generates a MAP window and I move the aircraft using the mouse (drag)Emile

I have the same problem with a joystick. But I overcome this by using the keypad up and down arrows with the numlock off. Works like a charm. You must hold those arrow keys down for a while b/4 you pick up speed. The joystick can stay attached, but the null may have to be adjusted larger so the joystick does not interfere.
