Just wanted to say, "I'm still alive" even tho I haven't spent a lot of time flying lately. I have been clearing up a problem with the laptop, and I discovered Train-Sim... A silly question for the staff, how do you upload screenshots to go with a flight write-up?

Take care,
TD

Greetings TD:

We're still waiting for a new T1 line to be installed for our new dual processor file server (3 weeks late already). Until that happens, you can email the files to me. I'll post them for you.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ben

No worries. I was not sure and did not want to step on toes or hose something up. As for the waiting, well, that just makes the actual delivery that much better... :D

LOL! I have that too. The novelty wore off for me kind of quick though. I don't think it went fast enough for me <g>.

Welcome back!

I don't know if it is a speed issue, as much as it is a lot like the first iterations of Flightsim. You have six areas (although the scenery is a lot cooler than that in FS 1.0) and you have to spend 10s of hours designing your own scenery and routes if you don't want to just drive what they ship with. Too, Abacus and others have jumped on the bandwagon, and are charging what I consider large sums for packages that have a couple engines, or a "how to" manual on route building that should have been included in the original package. Finally, those folks out there making new routes, shareware or otherwise, have the burden of making them realistic, which results in file sizes of 10-20 megs in zip form, and multiples of these for a single route. For those of us still using dialups, this means that you are stuck with the routes you bought with the original package or spending years chasing the ideal of building just your route. Feh.

At least with FS, you can fly all over the world and have a reasonable (even if the city of Chicago looks more like a small town outside of the 20 buildings included in the Auto-gen scenery) expectation that your trip will take you over scenery you would recognize if you went for a visit.
