"FS2K2 Display problem"

Posted by vgbaron on 01-24-02 at 00:47z
OK, I've run ito a new one! All has been running merrily along with my FS2k2. My 19" CTX monitor had a problem and had to be returned for repair. I'm running on a CTX 17". Windows 98SE pickd up the monitor change and all seems well, refresh is adapter default ( which is my preferred setting).

Now, the problem - when I start FS2k2, I always start in the Create Flight screen as opposed to going directly to a default flight. Now when I start, this screen is very dark and distorted, like you would get if the monitor was misadjusted or if the refresh rate was wrong. There'S NO problem with the actual flight display - I'm usually at 1024x768 or 12xx x9xx -= either way the display is clear and bright. the problem is ONLY with the startup screen.

Anyone aware of any settings that might have been changed that I can tweak? None of the obvious settings have any efect. I tried various refresh rates, etc but no joy.

I can live with it and see what happens when my other monitor is retutrned but I'm curious as to what might have caused the problem.

Thanx,

Vic

Resolved the issue. Evidently w98 or fs2k2 remembers the refresh settings at various resolutions. Even tho I'd changed the 1024x768 refresh to work with the 17", the 800x600 was still set for the 19". When FS2k2 is fired, the opening screen displays at 800x600 regardless of the desktop setting. Since the refresh rate was wrong - got an ugly display.

had to reset the desktop to 800x600, reset the refresh rate, set desktop back to 1024x768. Then when fs2k2 fired, all was well.

Go figure -
:)

Hi Vic,

That, no doubt, goes under the heading of plug and play!

Hi Vic,

you are in contact with Guido and working on the off-line reader for this forum. I am sorry to be a bit late with this message. Guido called me saying he is in hospital which he did not expect and it maybe for longer. He said, he sent you the files and information needed to continue with the project for the time being.

Again, sorry I could not post this message earlier. I had disassembled my PC setup (for the virtual cockpit project I am working on) and on the office notebook I had no password to login here. Well I finally figured out how to progress..

I hope Guido will come back well and healthy soon.

Regards,
Detlef

Detlef -

Thanx for the update. I heard from Guido day before yesterday and he was home. Is he BACK in the hospital?

Vic,

sorry the previous message was so late, because I had trouble getting here..
I'll check with Guido, maybe call him to see how he is.
If he is already home, all the better.

Thanks
Detlef
