"FS98 start without cloud movie"

Posted by RBH on 01-07-02 at 22:12z
How do I make my FS98 start without showing the cloud & earth movie? I did it before on my old computer, but I forgot how. I'm getting all the transfering done before I switch to FS2002, and I have to take a break (with my P-51D) now and then.
Thanks,
RBH

Hi RBH,

There are two ways but this is the proper way...

1. Open FS98.CFG using NotePad and locate the

section.

2. Change the line ShowLogo=1 to ShowLogo=0.

Save and exit. Restart FS98 and the intro is no more!

The other way? Delete the AVI file in the main FS98 folder.

Thanks, Ray. I got lost in the CFG, I wanted to keep the parts instead of deleting anything in case I needed them later, so I changed the AVI name from mslogo to ,,,mslogo
It worked. The starting can't use what it can't recognize so it skips the movie and starts quicker. Everything's OK so far.
And while I'm writing to one from England, thanks to your country for coming up with the Rolls Royce Merlin engine and all the times our countries have stood together.

Hi RBH,

My message lost something as the square brackets around the word Main didn't make it. Although you have now found a workaround that line should be inserted into the MAIN section. If it's there just amend it - if it isn't insert what I suggested.

Thanks for the nice words about the Merlin. Every time I see a Spitfire the sound of that engine is wonderful. As for standing side by side - that's what happens when you are natural allies!
