Original Message"Aircraft Textures in FS2002"

Hi All, I've just installed FS2002 (Christmas present from my wife!). Generally it runs fine (even though it's on my old P2 400MHz sysem), but there is a problem with aircraft textures - on both flyable and the AI aircraft. Most of them display as plain white, with no visible texturing, although several do look OK (Camel and sailplane are the two that come to mind). I suspect it may be something to do with my ancient graphics card (Voodoo 2 with 12MB memory), but this worked fine with FS2000. However, I had to load DirectX8 as part of the FS2002 installation - could this have messed things up? Could anyone suggest a possible solution to this? Many thanks. Regards....John

Hi John,
As well as installing DX8.0a? try updating drivers. If that fail's go back a driver from the present one! Video drivers and video cards are a PITA with regards to FS2002 and various systems
Regards,
James.

Hi James, Yes it was DX8.0a I installed. Guess I'd better investigate drivers now - could be a pain as I don't think the Voodoo cards are supported any more so I might already have the latest driver. Regards....John

Hi John,
If you have the latest Drivers try and get a few older ones and try those. It's all a game of trial and error I'm afraid

James.

Hi James, I got a later driver than the one I already had from www.voodoofiles.com, but guess what? It made no difference at all. I've not managed to find a fully DX8 compatible driver for my Voodoo2 board yet - the one I downloaded was DX7, to replace the DX6 version already installed. If anyone reading this knows where I might find a DX8 version I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Regards....John
