"Nav Sounds in FS2002?"

Posted by Tarmack on 12-26-01 at 13:11z

Could anyone tell me where I ENABLE the Nav sounds of the Outer, Middle, and Inner markers for 2002?

I have searched all the .cfg files....and I am stumped.

Not hard to stump me of course....but this one must be easy to overlook?

Cap'n Tarmack

I can't remember where to find it on the larger planes. But on the 172 there's a button on the upper row of the radio stack for the beacon sounds. I assume it on the radio for other planes as well.

Mel -

There's a row of switches on the radio stack that controls the markers, dme, etc.

Vic...and Randy,

Thanks for the replies.....guess the radio rack is the only area for the enabling of the Marker sounds.

Trouble is....there is no radio rack available in the R4D DC-3.....so I guess I will just have to play REAL old pilot and not be able to hear the Outer Marker when I go by it....I can still see it. Grin.

Greetings Mel:

This is the only thing I can suggest:

Save a flight and edit the corresponding *.flt file.

Look for the section

(square bracket)Avionics(square bracket)

and change

AudioMarkerListen=0

to

AudioMarkerListen=1

Save the file and load it when you want to have the marker beacons audible. I haven't tried it with the DC-3 you're referring to, but it should work.

Hope this helps!
Ben

Greetings Mel:

You know, after replying to another message about the AP panel, you could probably do the same for the COM panel.

You could try modifying panel.cfg:

Under (square bracket)Window Titles(square bracket)

add:

window05=COMPanel

Under (square bracket)Window05(square bracket)

add:

BACKGROUND_COLOR=2,2,2
size_mm=156,45
position=8
visible=0
ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL
gauge00=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio Audio, 0, 0

This would make the COM panel accessable by key command shift + 6

Best!
Ben

Ben,

Boy am I glad that you are full of ideas....cuz I was running out of them!

I can get the Marker sounds with the default Cessna's....and I modified the aircraft file for the DC3 as you recommended.....but to no avail.....no sound when over the Outer, Middle or Inners.

Now...with this new idea I have plans for tomorrow. Grin.

Must tell you ALL....if you can download almost a HALF GIG of terrain mesh by Eddie Denney.......DO IT!

It is for Alaska and it is amazing.

Today I flew the entire length of the Yukon river...and I am still amazed.

Regards,

Mel

This you may find is due to it not being a fully pledged FS2000/2002 air file aircraft mate :-)

Try Justin's (www.fsgenesis.com) Mesh Terrain also, amazing :-)

James.
