"English Airports FS2002 update available"

Hi all,

For those of you who have Barry Perfect's English Airports he has just released the update making it compatible with FS2002. You can download it here: -

www.gbairports.co.uk/main.htm

You will need your Registered name and password to gain access to the Update page. I've only just downloaded it so have no idea how well the AI aircraft blend in.

Cheers,

Ray.

Hi Ray... I travel in Britain a lot (in the real-world that is) and I was thinking of getting some add-on scenery there. Do you recommend that product? Anything else? Is it just the airports or is there other scenery?

Pretty weird about the Dome being in downtown London, huh?

Hi Rick,

Airport scenery for the UK (well England really) is available from two major sources - Barry Perfect with his English Airports and Garry Simmons who has also produced quality work for the major English airports. I don't have Garry's (which has received much acclaim) so can only speak for Barry's which I find excellent. Frame rates also hold up well (a little better than the Airport2000 series).

For the price either represents very good value and you really couldn't go wrong with either package.

My first observations with Barry's reworked scenery for FS2002 is that the runways don't entirely agree with the default FS2002 ones so Progressive taxiing could be dangerous! <g> That aside I think you'll find it will fulfill your needs.

Major bobo by Microsoft putting the dome where the London Eye should be. Pity they can't tow it out into the Thames estuary and hand it over to Combat FS for target practice!!

Cheers,

Ray.

Hi Rick,

Just to add to Ray's reply re Gary Summons scenery.

I have most of Gary's stuff and in general I prefer it to Barry's (I have both).

Gary includes a lot more 'eye candy' such as moving air bridges, catering trucks, docking systems, working stop bars, etc. He has just released updates for FS2k2 (originals are for FS2k)

I have UK parts 1-3 for the smaller airfields and London airports and Birmingham.

The only down side is bumpy taxiways in FS2k2 but I am sure this will be fixed when the SDK comes out.

You can d/load demos from Gary's site.
