Hi James,I hope we're going to start off with as big a bang Rally-wise as we finished off in GAMERS. Is there a Rally destination comittee we can lobby, or mug?
Regards
Kit

Hi Kit,I'm hoping that our First Rally here is as good as if not better than the last Gammers Rally. Keep an eye out for the destination
Also just like to mention that you all are welcome to use the MP and RW capability.
Regards,
James.

Hi James,>Also just like to mention that you all are welcome to use >the MP and RW capability.<
I wish! I've been trying to get SB and RW and all those good MP things going ever since I got FS02, but to no avail so far.
AT least there seems to be a solution to flying with the trackball now, so some progress is being made. But for the short term I'll still be Rallying in FS98.

Kit

Hi Kit,All you really need is FS2002 and Roger Wilco mate. All the rest can wait <g> If you can't find RW let me know and I'll e-mail you it.
James.

Hi Kit,When I installed RW two years ago, I had to buy a new
sound card. I tested RW, it didn't play back. After
emailing for support I found that my sound card was the
wrong duplex (half duplex vs full duplex). Can't remember
which one RW requires but I bought a cheap half-card
Ensoniq card for about $35 which did the job. RW is very
easy and intuitive to use once I got the sound card right.

Hi Alan,I just caught your reply, sorry for the delay.
I can't have a new sound card in my PC 'cos it's laptop, so I'm stuck with the ESS chip that purports to be one. I did get RW downloaded OK, but it won't work on the 'Plane Jane' PC, apparently because the mike circuit can't be 'seen'. Even with a headset plugged in it won't work either. However, it does work, sort of, with the laptop plugged into the docking station, and the headset plugged into the docking station's sockets!
Wierd.......
Having just had my first ever MP session on any FS version, I found that although I could hear the other flight members talking over RW, they couldn't hear me.
Even wierder...
Development continues. I wouldn't mind but I paid Bill Gates for this, shouldn't HE be paying ME???
Regards
Kit

Hi Kit,Unless others jump in with a definitive answer to the RW mike problem I suggest you have a look on the VATSIM and Squwakbox forums at avsim.com.
I know others have had this problem of them being able to hear but others cannot hear them, that is assuming that RW does check out OK.
I had a similar problem a few weeks ago even though RW had been working fine for months.
When I checked the RW was reporting 'recieve only'; for some reason my SB AWE64 card had lost the plot regarding full dupex setting and had gone into half duplex mode which would only allow receive and not transmit.
After a reinstall of the sound card s/ware and setting the card to full duplex things were OK again.
I use 2 PCs for on line flying, one running SB & RW connected to the 'Net and the other just running FS.
The two PCs are connected via a NIC each and UTP cable.
I hope you get it sorted 'cos on line flying really makes the whole experience much more immersive.
Rgds and Happy New Year

Hi Vulcan,I like the idea of using two PCs networked. Does tbe RW and SB machine have to be a quick one? And which one do you use to connect on-line?

Hi James,Just arrived here for my first visit as a registered user.
>Also just like to mention that you
>all are welcome to use the MP and RW capability.
I've done practically no multiplayer - just two of the FSForum full fly-ins before the rallies started. I seem to remember that it was not possible in those days to mix different versions of FS in a MP linkup. I am still using FS98 now, will it be possible to join MP sessions with others using later versions?

Hi Alan,Good to see you over here.
I'm not sure about mixing different versions in MP.
My guess is that you have to fly with people who
are using the same version of FS.
The flight rooms, here at the VPC, will make it
easier to form 'squadrons' and hook up with other
MP flyers. I'm looking forward to doing more MP
flights. Have had mixed success myself, in the past.

We have a few regulars here that still use FS98 too, so you're not alone.
As for playing MP with other version the answer is no. Please note that that's a limitation with FS and not the VPC FlightRooms.

>>I am still using FS98 now, will it be possible to join MP sessions with others using later versions<<Not to worry! There are still plenty of us around who are still using FS98. If I could afford a new computer to run FS(anything newer) I'd buy an airplane instead.....

TD,See the first reply - "let's settle in".
Also, do you realize the risk of mid-air reindeer
collisions in December? Santa can't possibly deliver
everything on the 25th so he whips around, seriptitously,
all month (at night, with no strobes) and stashes the
presents in carefully selected locations until the 25th.
The reindeer were not a problem in FS2000 but in the
new version they appear as AI objects <g>
Alan
ps: anxiously waiting for the next rally myself.

LOL! Happy to see you here. I am quite busy learning to use FS2K, and lack of an immediate rally is not a bad idea for me at this time. Happy landings

Rene,This is being written about 24 hours (give or take) after finding out the news of your departure. The news hit pretty hard, because I remember how your story last Christmas with the little boy in the hospital waiting for Santa (and getting the action figures of CON and the gang, as well as the scale model of PL-965) brought tears to my eyes. They returned with the news and the thought that your skills at story-crafting, and writing, won't be brightening the post-rally reading again.
There is talk of making the first Rally/Fly-in the Sancho Memorial and I am sure that that will come to pass soon enough. Kit has already promised he would fly a Super Connie in, and I will be there with my DC-3. Melo will probably be there in the latest iteration of the Spit, and CON with a helicopter probably for at least one leg...
It seems to be a time for saying good-bye this year. The obvious ones that made the news, and the not-so-obvious/smaller ones like the Gamer's Forum. Now you. (Damn it, it is getting harder to see the keys again)
I hope that whereever you are, the spirit of the messages that the folks who knew you and sent their heartfelt condolences to your family reach you as well. I also hope that when the time comes in 60 years or so, and there is a chance, the Techbabe and I can meet one of the best storytellers I ever read work from. Maybe even watch a DC-3 take off together.
Take care whereever you are, and keep them entertained. You had style, and that is hard to come by in this world.

TD,You and Sancho were two of a kind, both excellent story tellers, at least something of the spirit of Sancho will still be with us as long as you and Techbabe are around.
Both of you could bring a lump to my throat as this latest post of yours has done.
A fitting tribute my friend.

TD,That posting was the best you've ever written, and with your track record that's saying something. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes, and my wife will tell you that takes some doing. You've said to Sancho pretty much what we all wished, even if we didn't actually write it. Well done and thanks.

Hi TD,On behalf of the rest of the Crew and members I'd like to thank you for your kind words and at this time I doubt if any of us would have been able to put it any better.
Thanks again and look out for the details of a Memorial Flight some time tomorrow.
Regards,
James.

Thanks so much for your message. A wonderful posting and a fitting tribute to Sancho.
As others, it brought tears to my eyes as well. The screen is underwater right now.

Probably better a collision than sucking them thru a GE turbofan... at least with the high-gloss livery paint, they slide and skid a bit. But, I guess I don't want to be the one to tell Mrs. Claus, "Yep, ol' Kris was one tough elf. He made it all the way thru the second fan chamber before misting up...""TD - VFAA investigators on line 2, AGAIN!!!"
