"FSDS Wing problem"

As I learn FSDS, I am experiencing a problem with wings. I create a template, use the airfoil wizard and create a wing that looks great. When I merge it with a fuselage, I can only see the inside side of the wing skins or IOW when looking down on the wing from above you see through the top skin and can see the inside of the bottom skin. What am I doing wrong?

Happy landings,

I figured this one out on my own. Polygon mirroring was the answer. Next question is how does one establish the axis on which a part is animated?

Hi Mike,
I find it much easier NOT to use the FSDS Wing Lizard! I just call a tube down from the Add Part menu with enough sides to suit the construction and then just manually shape it, adding extra sections here and there as needed.

If you're using AA to do your animation, you don't need to move the axis around. But, if you're trying to make a customized animation using SDLedit... move the axis mark around just like you would a regular part, only hold down the SHIFT key while you mouse drag it.

Hope that helps! :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. As to animation, I am not familiar with SDLedit. Where would I go about getting this?

Try going to http://flightsimmers.net/airbase/m431c/FargosFlightsim/

You can download it there. Its freeware.
I also recommend watching the forum at www.freeflightdesign.com. A lot of designers hang out there, and you can pick up a lot of tips just lurking there! (G)

Pratice makes perfect. Just wait until you start trying to figure out animation sequence strings! LOL

I've already seen that on the horizon. In the next few months I am going to attempt to create the aircraft I fly for a living. A Hawker 800 business jet. It has inner gear doors to sequence. If I get past that, things should go well. I have access to detailed maintenance drawings to derive the dimensions I need. I appreciate your help and will undoubtadly need more as time goes on.

Happy landings,
