"Explosion of Virtual Airlines"

Greetings!
I was over on the Zone earlier today and among the many changes there, I couldn't help noticing the huge proliferation of Virtual Airlines (VA's) over there. Now I know VA's have been very strong over the years, but I can't recall ever seeing so many of them popping up before.
Can anyone shed some light on what may have caused this sudden explosion of new VA's?
Ben

This could be an attempt by zoners to try and make the zone "The Place" to come if you want to have a good time in Flight Sim 98/2k, although as we all know the zone will never be like it used to be.I would also like to take this oppurtunity to say "hi" to everyone, and say how cool this site looks, its great to see somebody actually putting something promising together for Flight Simmmer's.
Cheers
Sam

Welcome, Sam!
The other thing I noticed is clearly more than half of the games "on" the Zone were IP games (e.g. not even based on the Zone). So I don't think that fits with the "making the Zone the place to be" theory.
Actually, IMHO, the Zone has become more like rug merchant market with all of the VA's harping their wares. It's funny how things change like that, and I'm still curious why that happened. I guess in part that's because I'd hate to see that happen over here.
Thanks!
Ben

On the Zone, everyone wants to own their own virtual airline. So, they are going to these free homestead/geocities site and setting up what they think is a real airline. Instead of having fun flying, they seem to be in competition with one another which causes an increase in COC violations
A top VA is BAV (British Airways Virtual). I believe their address is http://www.bav.co.uk
They are a superb, friendly and professional VA who i personally met last November at the European Flt Sim show whilst working for Microsoft.

Looks like the address you posted is to "Bon Accord Venues - Hotel Booking Agents & Conference Organisers."
Perhaps once we've got all of our features up and running, we could provide services to a select few VA's. We could provide links, create VA specific chat rooms, message boards, etc..
We can discuss this further when the time comes.
Best!

OK, works this time. (It seems the URL is correct, but the link you posted had an erroneous " in it.)
BAV certainly looks like a top notch outfit. Very impressive! In fact, many VA sites look so good that if I didn't know what I was looking at, I'd think it was the real thing!
Thanks again, Andy!

Andy, i checked out that (www.bavirtual.co.uk) site and it seems that it closed down because of the behavior of a few members, its ashame that a few unruly people have to ruin a good thing for others.

It really is a shame that a few unruly people can disrupt such a good thing for everybody.
