"ADIOS, TWA"

From AvWeb:

ADIOS, TWA: Another page in aviation history will turn December 5, when the TWA logo and name will officially cease to exist. TWA logos, banners, and signs will be replaced by the American Airlines livery. TWA, started in 1925 and once owned by Howard Hughes, soon will fly off into the sunset for one last time.

Yeah, major bummer on this end. After we moved to the West Coast in 1966, we'd always make one or two trips back east to visit family...always on TWA. Even up until 7 or 8 years ago when they stopped the non-stop between SFO and BOS, TWA was my choice of carriers. Since then, it's been just a price game, and they lost (Since I *always* had to stop in STL) :( Now, I just have to eat up these frequent flier miles before they expire on AA's plan.

TWA has been a mainstay in the U.S. Airline Business for as long as I can remember. Back in the 50's a TWA Super Connie was in a Micky Mouse Club Feature on TV.

In the travel industry they would joke that TWA means Travel With American or Teenie Weenie Airlines but it's no joke to lose another airline.

No, it definitely sucks to lose yet another link to the past.

My rant against airline bailouts still goes; add to that the news that the Twins are going to be down-sized by a slug ex-used-car-salesman with a bad toupee; and my belief is that anyone in a suit and a $200K/year salary is just trying to convince everyone they know what they are doing on the outside, and secretly screaming in terror on the inside because they really have no clue at all.

Sounds like a couple of people we know at some large online services. ;)
