"FS2002 Question for Mel"
Posted by PStepanoff on 10-15-01 at 17:45z
Yo Mel,Tell me about the controls for the FS2002. I hear that the Dif. Brakes work with USB Pedals. How does the sim work with the old analog gameport CH stuff? Will it work as well as the USB stuff? I realize that the brakes will not be same as with USB controls, but how about every thing else, throttle pedals and yoke?

Pete,
Alas........you have found the Achilles heel of the Beta.....which may well be fixed in the final release.......but to this point NONE of my CH controls with the analog connections work with the beta....and in fact the USB LE Yoke doesn't work worth a darn either.
All that I found to work successfully was the Microsoft USB Sidewinder family.
Again........I HOPE that the new release fixes the old problems.......AND must tell you that I am running WinXP.......which IS probably the main reason for my problems.
Regards,
Mel

Thanks Mel,I hope that WinXP is the culprit, but I guess I'll know soon enough.
I have both RC1 and RC2 of WinXP, but removed them due to lack of drivers to support some of my peripherals. Guess by the time the Final XP is out, most of the drivers will be available. Another reason for my removing XP was that I don't plan to get the XP Pro Version, and the Betas will not upgrade to Home version, so I would have to reinstall anyway.
Take care,

Here's another one Mel,How much of the FS2000 addon scenery, will work with FS2002?
Is it compatible? Is there a trick to make it all work?
I have a ton of addons by, Wilco, Simflyers, Gary Summons etc.... Will they need patching?

Pete,
I would not want to use the FS2000 Scenery add-on's with 2002...every airport that I landed at in the beta.....including the little small ones........was just LIKE the way I remember them in real world flying.
Once you see the Grand Canyon at sunset........you will keep those add-on's on the shelf !

Mel
