Hello sailors! This posting is just to stimulate the imagination a little. How often have you flown over interesting places in FS2000 and thought "Hmmm, I'd like to have a better look at that .. but I'd better not park my BAe 146 on the White House Lawn and what's more, I'm not sure of the brakes ..."
One or two enterprising souls have created cars and buses to drive around FS2000 cities, and one or two have created rudimentary ship models. But I thought, what the heck, there's water everywhere in FS2000 ... I need something a bit smaller and faster to have a good look around.
And so "Katherine Grace" was created in a spare hour or two. She's a sort of Cigarette/Fountain hybrid based on no drawings at all ... in fact, she doesn't even have a hull. All that matters is the cockpit. So using CFGEdit, I cobbled together twin engine instruments, GPS, radar, ADF and of course a CD player ... and off I went. Fiddled with a suitable airfile to avoid taking off or overspeeding ... whacked in some splash sounds ... hit the "I" key to create a good wake ... man, she's fun! I took her down the Thames in London at 60 knots last night under all the bridges, and around Hong Kong island at about 100 knots. Having done this for real (although at 50 knots) I was astonished how exciting this was to simulate.
So there's the idea! Make up your own favourite! Maybe when I get around to building a hull for mine, I'll upload my own effort somewhere for people to play with ... but I just wanted to encourage y'all to try it for yourself.
Seeing London from a different perspective ...
Another way to view Thomas Kwong's Kai Tak!
