This link looks like you placed it in quotes. The message board will convert URL's to hot links automatically (saves you from writing a href etc., etc.). If you add quotes, it'll retain the quotes and screw up the URL/link.

I entered the messages direct from the mb, not with the VPCOLR. In the first message I put

www.fsnavigator.com - no quotes, no nothin. Didn't preview, just saved. When I went back to the message, the link did not display.

Tried the second message as "www.fsnavigator.com" hoping the quotes would keep it there. This time I previewed it and the all that showed was "; - that's a double quote and a semicolon.

For whatever reason the mb wouldn't display my links.

Thoughts?

Understood that you entered on the message board (didn't see the OLR tagline in your original messages). The link do displays for me properly both on the message board and the OLR (the former is "hot" of course). Are they still messed up/not displaying for you now?

I don't know. All I can think of is something on your system is blocking the links from displaying. Perhaps a popup killer or some other filter? FYI, the links are automatically set to open the URL in a new window.

Anyone else missing/not seeing URL's in messages?

Ben -

I'm calling from my office and all seem well. Able to enter url and see it in preview.

I'll try again form home tonight and see if it's system specific.

BTW, after all the fussing around with telco, SBC and DSL, they finally made some changes and I'm running at 1.2K now!

TTYL,

Vic

OK, please keep me posted.

Great! How about consistency? Going fast is great, but if it goes offline intermittently, it kind of spoils it, right?

I've been going round and round with the sat company today. You may recall they were *supposed* to install my net sat connection today. Well, my appointment was at 9-10am. At 10:30 I phone the installer (Entertainment Lifestyles in Santa Maria, CA) and the guy tells me that they won't be coming out to install the system (nice of them to tell me) today because they haven't been able to get the systems to work since Hughes (the company that runs DirecWay) changed transponders a couple of weeks ago, yadda, yadda, yadda, and he hasn't been paid for the systems he's installed (that don't work... yadda, yadda, yadda), and he's not rescheduling anyone for installation indefinitely.

Short story is, I phoned DirecWay to find out what's up with that and they're going supposed to have an installer from outside the area come in to install my system. Well, I'm beginning to think the worst--like the DSL fiascoes, Ben ain't gonna get sat net service anytime soon either. :(

Well, I'm holding out hope that this other installer is going to call, and that Hughes isn't going out of business already or anytime soon. Will keep you posted on my oddessy. <sigh>

Ben -

If you haven't done it, go to www.dslreports.com and browse around. Lots of info on various providers and plans they offer in all areas. Some of the stuff is specific to certain geographic areas ( like the boonies where you live <G>).

Hi Vic:

Unfortunately I'm more than 49,000' from the nearest switching station, so I can't even get IDSL. For me it's really sat or my 19kbs dialup.

Thanks for the link tho.
