"CH analogue gear for sale"
04-02-02, 11:02z

Hi all,

After some thought and discussion on these pages I have decided to sell my analogue CH hardware to make way for USB versions. Despite it being in daily use for a number of years (purchase date shown against each item) the hardware remains in full working order and in excellent external condition.

Microsoft has ceased to support the gameport in WindowsXP which is why I have decided to move to USB versions.

So, here are the details and prices: -

CH Virtual Pilot Pro - Oct '95 - £30
CH Pro Throttle - Oct 96 - £40
CH Pro pedals - Nov 97 - £35

If you want all three they are available for £99. Post & packing extra.

Look forward to hearing from you :-)

Regards,

Are those the controls we used when I visited you a while back? They felt pretty much as new, no slop or backlash in the mechanisms at all, that I can remember, unlike my own joystick which wobbles like a jelly at the centre!

If I'd not picked up that dirt-cheap yoke at Brum last year, I'd be making you an offer.

Talking of that yoke, I had great fun and games trying to make it work. It seems the manufacturer had gone under, hence the mountain of them at the stand, so there's no help, info, or support from anywhere. It turned out that the cable was wired wrongly, so there was no power supply getting through to the potentiometers - absolutely dead controls. Fortunately, I'm a dab hand with a soldering iron, and a few mods to the junction box I'd made to take my home-made rudder and throttle had it working eventually. It had me worried though, thought I'd thrown away £6!

Alan

Hi Alan,

Yes, it's all the same hardware and still works as well as ever.

Being a dab hand with a soldering iron worked out well for you - less so for me :-(

If you ever win the lottery feel free to splash out ;-)

Ray,

Have you ever considered or come across a gameport to usb convertor. It was referred to in an article by Rob Barendregt about building multi engine throttles which appeared, I think, at Flightsim com, in early March. I've never heard of the unit but the article had a picture of it and I assume it allowed analogue controls to be connected to a usb. I've not so far contacted him to see if it really does that and if so how effectively. If it does it seems a potential way of avoiding shelling out on new kit.

Hi David,

I've never heard of a gameport/usb converter but assuming there is one and it did allow me to connect my gear to the USB hub there still remains one outstanding problem - that of configuring the programmable Pro Throttle via the CH SpeedKeys software. CH have stated that SpeedKeys will not work with XP and in any case they have now released their USB Control Manager software. I think this clearly shows CH's thinking on the way forward.

I've bitten the bullet and ordered the new gear today so I'm committed to moving to USB. Thanks for your suggestion nevertheless.
