"FS2k@ Flight PLanner Problem"
01-14-02, 01:00z

My FS2K2 Flight PLanner has developed a problem - it doesn't work any more :). When I go into FP and create a flight and save it, after I click OK, the flight used to start and I'd be at the starting airport. Now, it just comes back to the create flight screen and if I click fly now - I start with my default flight.

Anyone seen this before? I'll wait before reinstalling if I can. I don't want to have to go thru and modify all those CFG files for the various autopilot, etc. fixes. That's a pain in the butt. Gee, anyone know of a utility that can save all the cfg files and restore them after a reinstall?

hmmm, now that I think of it, regular backup software would do that. Maybe I'll give it a try as a last resort. BTW, does anyone know from experience, when you reinstall FS2K2, does it delete added a/c or just overwrite the default? If I recall correctly, fs2k would not touch any addons, just the default.

Hope someone has an idea.

Thanx,

Vic

Silly question: Did you try loading the flightplan first?

Ben

Ben -

Tried loading and not loading - no change. However, if I setup the flight and have the aircraft at the proper location and then start the flight and THEN load the flightplan - it will work. ATC will know the plan.

ANy other way and the plan doesn't work.

Strange.

Vic

Hi Vic,

I take it from your 1st paragraph that you are creating the Flight Plan from the Main Opening Screen? If so when you save the flight and click OK you are taken back to the Main Screen. Do you then select your flight?? If not you are going to start at your default flight any way as you haven't told the sim any different!! :-)

If you are actually in the Sim and then go to the Flight Planner and create your flight, save it then Load It :-) you shouldn't have any problem :-)

Regards,

James.

James - Yes and no :) The way it has always worked from the main screen is:
1) create flightplan
2) Save flightplan
3) click OK and flightplan is *auto*loaded in the flight window
4) click fly now and the flight starts. You are placed at your selected starting point and contact ATC and go from there.

Now, on step 3 - I am returned to the flight screen BUT the flight is not loaded, I am still in the default flight. If I click Fly Now - I start the default flight.

No, I shouldn't but i am :)

For example, I am at Meigs. I load, or create ( makes no difference) a flightplan from KSBP to KLAX - after clicking OK I am still at Meigs and ATC knows nothing of the plan. In the past, if I loaded the plan, I was placed at my starting point with ATC telling me to contact ground for clearance.

I can *force* it to work by manually placing my aircraft at the gate, load flightplan and select ATC - it then will know where I am and fly from there.

This is NOT the way it has worked.

Don't know what's changed but I fear I'm going to have to reinstall.

Cheers,

Vic

Problem resolved!

I use FSUIPC from Pete Dowson. One of the options that I had checked "no reposition on GPS Load" prevented the FP from moving me to tyhe starting point. Uncheked that option and all is well now. :)

Thanx for the help,

Vic
