"New Year Twice"
01-01-02, 08:24z

Having got FS02 sort of working on my laptop, thanks to the 'Mouse-as-Yoke' prog produced by Richard Lovett, I thought I'd bring in Year 2002 in FS style.

I flew an FS98 BA Concorde (I like the 'Classic' colour scheme and can't find one in FS02) out of Heathrow at around 2130 UK time and headed east subsonically across Belgium and Germany. After crossing the Channel this became 2230 of course and I kept on heading east for about an hour and a bit and then did a 180. Cruising at less than 650 kts true, Year 2002 came past me and headed on west, so after 10 mins. or so I nailed the throttle and went after it. :-)

Running at M 2.1 it didn't take all that long and I was laying sonic booms all across Northern Europe. (sorry guys...) Crossing the Channel again I kept on heading west and arrived overhead my own house in Gloucestershire UK about 2350 UK time (in 2001...) and went into a subsonic orbit to wait for New year #2, which duly arrived on time, heralded by some loon across the street deciding it was time to use up his fireworks stock!

I had hoped to arrive overhead at exactly midnight, but I had my hands full working out the nav. settings and fuel etc. No matter, it was good fun and that's what its all about.

Happy New Year to you all, and may you walk away from all your landings.

Regards
Kit

Happy New Year, Kaptain,

You sure know how to kill an evening <g>
There may be a Guiness Record there too -
the most fireworks displays viewed from the air
in a single evening.

Keep up the imaginative flying,

Alan

Glad to see you are getting the yoke problem sorted out somewhat. That will make it easier when you are on the road.

Great idea, wish I had thought of it. :-)

Wish I lived over there and could have heard you going by overhead. <g>

Happy New Year to you too. Walking away from the landings is no problem, as long as the spares shed is well stocked. :-)

Regards,
Melo
