"IP Address for Multiplayer"

It comes in handy to run the Windows IP configuration display application.

Search your boot drive for WINIPCFG.EXE

The application would normally be in your Windows directory for Windows 95 and 98. Please report in this thread if you have ME or XP and if the application is in the same location.

Right click on the WINIPCFG.EXE file for a context menu that will allow you to create a shortcut you can place on your desktop, in your start menu, or in the quickstart menu on your taskbar.

I have to reboot to check, but I think you can read the IP address in Microsoft Flight Simulator's Flights | Multiplayer | Host Settings dialog also.

Robert - Don't know what was happening tonight. Couldn't even connect to the Zone! Installed a new monitor and I ghuess something got tweaked. Reset refresh rates, etc several reboots and now I can connect and fly in the Zone. Hopefully it will still work when I try the VPC again.

Frustrating.

Thanx for the help,

Vic

Host settings (on the menu under Flights | Multiplayer) shows your IP address when you are hosting a multiplayer sesion in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and 2002. You will have to connect as a host before you IP address will be visible in the simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 doesn't show the IP address, so you will have to use WINIPCFG to determine your IP address.

G,day Robert, Happy New Year, if of any assistance I run Windows ME & FS2002.
(On your advice) I got my IP address in Start>Run> C:\WINDOWS\WINIPCFG.EXE and got listed the:-
IP Configuration. PPP Adaptor
Adaptor Address
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
This info is probably pretty basic stuff to you , but, to me is still a mystery.Hopefully will arrive at some understanding as I progress. :)
Regards,
Andy.
