"FS2k2 Adjust seat position"
12-23-01, 09:27z

Hi all,

I seem to remember there is a method to permanently adjust the seat position for an aircraft. How can I achieve that in FS2002?

I hate not being able to see the horizon when the aircrafts nose is slightly up. I know I can press Strg-Enter or Backspace but I have to repeat that every time after I looked left or right.

Any ideas?
Thank you
Detlef

I haven't actually tried it yet, but I understand it requires editing the plane's PANEL.CFG file.

Make sure the original file is backed up before making changes.

The first change appears to be to the first number in the VIEW_FORWARD_DIR line.

The second change appears to be to the third number in the eyepoint line.

the third change appears to be to the value in a SIZE_Y line to set a zoom factor. My source is a message from DrJohn in the AVSIM MSFS general forum, but I referred to a copy on my hard disk and don't have a link.

Detlef -

The following was copied from the FS2002 Tips page at FlightSim.com -

******************************

Locking the View from the Pilot's Seat

Details

Each aircraft has a panel directory and a panel.cfg file inside that directory. MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FILE before trying the following:

Look for these lines (the values might vary)

VIEW_FORWARD_DIR= 3.0, 0.0, 0.0

If you increase the first figure before the first comma, you move your point of view higher up in the 2D cockpit. Reducing it moves you lower down into the cockpit. Note these parameters are only relevant to the use of 2D cockpits.

For 3D cockpits, to effect a permanent change you need to go into the aircraft.cfg file. In there, you will find a "views" stanza. There is a line beneath that says "eyepoint=xx,yy,zz". The figure you want to change here is the third one "zz".

Increasing this number moves you higher up into the cockpit and reducing it moves you lower down into the cockpit. You want to make very small changes to this number as you experiment.

************************************

HTH,

Happy Holidays,

Vic
