vgbaron Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: "Real weather problem" 12-09-01, 03:43z  I just got a dsl line, hooked to a router, and all of a sudden when I try to d/l real weather I get an error re "server name could not be resolved". Are hey having trouble or is my router causing a problem?<< Yup, the server is acting as a firewall. You need to open the port that FS is using to get the weather. Which port that is, I don't know. Why are you using a router anyway? If you're sharing the connection in a lan, wouldn't ICS be a cheaper solution? I use it at my home and office, and it works great. The only downside I can see is that the "server" computer needs to be on all of the time for others to access the internet. "RE: Real weather problem" 12-09-01, 14:12z  I use a regular hub (not a router) to share my DSL line with 2 computers... and I use the ZoneLabs software firewall which asks "Do you want to let Flight Simulator have access to the Internet?"... click yes. I have a friend who uses a router. There is software that comes with the router to set those ports. It seems kinda complicated but I'm sure that Vic can figure it out. In addition to the router I use zoneAlarm pro on each system. With all the tweaking, connecting, upgrading, etc. I forgot to tell ZA to allow FS to connect to the inet. All is well now.
