Rene,This is being written about 24 hours (give or take) after finding out the news of your departure. The news hit pretty hard, because I remember how your story last Christmas with the little boy in the hospital waiting for Santa (and getting the action figures of CON and the gang, as well as the scale model of PL-965) brought tears to my eyes. They returned with the news and the thought that your skills at story-crafting, and writing, won't be brightening the post-rally reading again.
There is talk of making the first Rally/Fly-in the Sancho Memorial and I am sure that that will come to pass soon enough. Kit has already promised he would fly a Super Connie in, and I will be there with my DC-3. Melo will probably be there in the latest iteration of the Spit, and CON with a helicopter probably for at least one leg...
It seems to be a time for saying good-bye this year. The obvious ones that made the news, and the not-so-obvious/smaller ones like the Gamer's Forum. Now you. (Damn it, it is getting harder to see the keys again)
I hope that whereever you are, the spirit of the messages that the folks who knew you and sent their heartfelt condolences to your family reach you as well. I also hope that when the time comes in 60 years or so, and there is a chance, the Techbabe and I can meet one of the best storytellers I ever read work from. Maybe even watch a DC-3 take off together.
Take care whereever you are, and keep them entertained. You had style, and that is hard to come by in this world.
