You can still savage some of your rep by telling us the minimum hardware required to run it. (Not what it says onthe package...)

I haven't seen the package, so I don't know what the heck it says <g>. The slowest computer I tested it on was a P-III 450 (Viper 770 32meg), and the performance was quite acceptable. The way I see it, is that if you're happy with FS2000 on your machine, you'll be happy with FS2K2 as well. They *really* focused on performance this time around, and that's a first!

I did see a comment from someone over in the GAMERS forum that they were getting about 5-15 fps on a 266 MHZ set at default settings.... Not too bad! I "flew" FS5.1 on a 33MHZ machine that sometimes got as low as 5 fps....Makes landings interesting....:-)

Jerry,

hehe, that was me (a bit late on this as I aint had a connection for over a week). I've ran it on a PII 233 PIII 550 AMD Athlon 1.3 and a 1.4 all with various degree's of difference's but mainly in the graphics card's in use

James.

Seems to be working nicely on my P3 450 with 128 MB main RAM and ATI 32 MB Rage Fury! I don't see any hesitation. The autogen scenery seems to give more sensation of the ground proximity at low altitudes. So far have tried Los Vegas and vicinity to the East and the Chicago area.

It seems to have a frame rate lock like I gather CFS2 has.

If you were disapointed with the hard copy FS98 manual the printed FS 2002 manual is even smaller! The three CDs (Pro version) are in one of those cheap card stock things instead of a jewel case too. I haven't checked out the on disk manual, which is supposed to be in the form of PDF files. No sign of an upgrade rebate, but had a $20.00 US rebate coupon for a MS Sidewinder FF 2 joystick (for US and Canada). The US version is still in the same size box FS2K was sold in (some other titles are starting to come in DVD style boxes).

You were correct Ben, I couldn't resist!

Robert,

>No sign of an upgrade rebate,...

I had a $15 rebate coupon, along with the $20 FF Stick coupon, in my Pro version box!

Rechecked box. Found sim rebate info inside. BTW, in the fondly recalled past, MS supplied double size jewel cases that held as many as four CDs that would fit many CD storrage cases in the space normmaly occupied by two standard single CD jewel cases. Got such cases with FS 2000 Pro and CD version of Encarta refference suite.

70.00 for the Pro Version, and they could not afford a pair of dual-CD jewel-cases... Wonder if that was an effort to add a couple cents per share... GEEEEEEEZ.
