"ACARS integration"
12-29-01, 23:47z

Greetings!

You may have noticed that we've begun integration of ACARS into the VPC system.

1. When you log on to the message board, you'll be automatically logged on to ACARS.

2. Once logged on, you can call up ACARS again from the main VPC screen. If you've accepted the login cookie (from the message board or the new VPC Login), you'll be automatically logged into ACARS again.

3. If you log in to the VPC from the ACARS link on the main VPC page, you'll automatically be logged into ACARS and the message board.

We're not really sure how the new system will behave if you don't accept the cookie, so we'd appreciate it if everyone would let us know if you encounter any problems.

If the cookie (or lack of) does become a problem, we may just default to sending the cookie. Note that no personal information is stored on the cookie, just your user state (e.g. logged on or off). The downside is if we do go with the cookie by default, members will have to Log Off when leaving the VPC or someone else using the computer later (within 24 hours) will be logged on as the original user. We really don't see this as a problem since you should always log off of any system when you're through for the day or will be away from your computer for any length of time.

Thanks!
Ben
