Continueing the series of flights across the USA (Eastport Muni/KEPM to Qillayute/KUIL). Useing the Kingair to balance easy handling and reasonable low altitude speed.

Anticipated next flight: KDSM/Des Moines to KBVN/Albion (about 218 nm ETE 57 min). Going to need a prompt takeoff to keep from running too much past 0300z though. with lower population density out that way I suppose the mid size airports are a bit farther apart.

This will be your excuse to remember your fuel level from one week to the next, since the FS 9.1 GPS doesn't list jet fuel for the Kingair for sale at Albion. No Localizers or VASI at KBVN, but there is an NDB.

KOGA/Searle looks good for the following week (about 185 nm ETE 50 min). Not exactly mountains, but the terrain on the way to KOGA does look like it's developing some gently rolling hills in a few spots.

With approximately 20 kt head wind I used about 900 lbs for KDSM to KBVN and another 800 lbs. for KBVN to KOGA. Was cruiseing with engine RPM at about 90%.

Rgr Robert... will feel at home with only the NDB at KBVN.
Out with the old stopwatch and dividers :)

Andy.

Looks like Searle (KOGA) to Laramie Rgnl.(KLAR) via SNY and CYS (180 nm) next weekend. This will leave the plain plaines behind us.

Looks like Laramie Rgnl. (KLAR) to Rock Springs-Sweetwater (KRKS) via LAR and CKW (157 nm) after that.

The Laramie VOR (LAR) is installed on a mountain WNW of the airport. KLAR's runways are not paralell to a LAR radial. The FS 2004 map doesn't show any localizers or convenient NDBs. I anticpate flying along a radial from the precedeing waypoint towards LAR and aquireing the field visually before reaching the VOR.

Rock Springs has an ILS on runway 27. Planes pass the Rock Springs VOR (OCS) on final approach to runway 27.
