"New guy here, Cool!"

Hello,

I am an old guy who just got his private last year. I own a Cessna 150J. I was sitting in the break room at work watching Discovery Wings, about crop dusters and saw some footage of Patty and then Gene Shucy. Went surfing, found his Showcat website and followed the link here.

I have been a Patty fan for a long time as well as Gene and lots of other airshow pilots.

I work as an engineer for a fly-by-night package delivery company so get to be around some big planes (727, A310, A300, DC-10/MD11) but really enjoy little planes.

When I get a little more $$, I will be looking for a second plane that is aerobatic.

Wally near KMEM
Just wanted to say I am glad to have found this place.

Welcome, Wally!

Patty's in Pensacola now, but she checks in when she can.

Mark, our host for the Airlines and Airliners forum feels the same way. What I find amazing is his ability to still flare at the right heights for big and little airplanes he flies. :)

We know where you could look for one... ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

I am fortunate to live here near Memphis. Close at hand is a little airport (FYE) with a designated aerobatic box! There are some FEDEX pilots and others who keep their planes nearby and on some weekends they open the box for practice.

Last year I flew in to see what was going, on not knowing anything about the place other than it was a quiet little airport. And I had the pleasure of an almost private (well 3 or 4 of us watching) Pitts airshow. He was out of smoke oil and just practicing but did some things that were very nice. He was trying out (showing off) his new Cyclone composite prop.

Maybe some day....

I once gave an IFR checkout to a FEDEX MD-80 pilot who commuted from here (central coast of California) to Atlanta (if I recall correctly, but it could have been Memphis)! He was one of the best pilots I've ever had the pleasure of evaluating. I would think that pilots that also fly on their days off tend to be the better pilots--so what you're saying makes all adds up for me. :)

Hang around here and you're sure to get "the bug." If the desire is great enough, it can be done. :)

Hey Wally

Welcome to AerobaticSource world!

Yes, you definitely need an airplane that is aerobatic. How about a Citabria or Decathalon?

Better start looking at Trade a Plane!
