Time Navex.KSBP Area
ID Lat Long Co. Dist Time.
rw29 KSBP - - - - Start
MorroPowerSt. 35*22 120*51 293 13nm 8min
MQO R270x6.8 35*15 120*54 185 7.0nm 12.5min
Nuc.PowerStn 35*13 120*52 136 2.3nm 14.0min
L52 Oceania 35*7 120*38 106 13.0 24.5min
Ct Twr KSBP - - 348 7.5nm 29.5min

Aircraft c172 Skyhawk ?
Times are for total times elapsed from start.
Pilots to calculate speed for each leg (bear in mind the turns :)
All 2 min. turns.
Suggest straight out departure rw29 (Start)
On arrival Ben, permission to overfly Control Tower (End) at 1200' then join downwind rw07. :)
With the exception of the MQO fix, all others are visible from each other (well almost :)
GPS and FS Nav allowed ?? FS Nav good way to keep each other honest :)
Any other ideas guys ?
Regards Andy.
Hmmm - doesn,t appear nearly as good as your plans Robert. I didn,t use the VPC format. just columns.

As far as I can gather:

The VOR/DME fix is Point Buchon.

The Nuclear Power Plant is the Diablo Canyon plant.

Of course Ben is probably more familiar with the area.

Don't know this one, but should be easy enough to find by DME. (Famous last words!) :)

>The Nuclear Power Plant is the Diablo Canyon plant.

Correct.

See you tonight!

G,day all,
Many thanks Robert & Ben.. I meant to include that the MQO fix is also the Westernmost point of land on the 185* leg (for VFR true-ists :).
See you tonight,
Regards,
Andy.

I was 12 seconds early at Morrow Bay Power Plant. 5 pts

8 seconds late at Point Buchon 5 more points for 10

75 secondss early at Diablo Canyon only 4 pints for total of 14

3 1/2 minutes early at Oceano only one point for 15 point total

1 1/2 munute early over KSBP tower for last three points

Total 18 points

How did the other three do?

I'm not sure how the point system works, but my times are as follow:

WP1 = 8 mins (on time)
WP2 = 28 seconds early
WP3 = 2 mins late
WP4 = 18 secs early
WP5 = 1.5 mins early

My biggest screw-up was from Morro Bay power plant to MQO 7 DME. I tracked the 270R outbound to DME7, so that mistake created the necessity for approx 180 degree turn (at standard rate), then had to backtrack to Diablo Canyon.

Oh well, that's what I get for not building a flight plan before the flight. I think I understand how to do better next time.

Thanks, Andy!

Ben

How sad.. threw my time sheet away !! :)
Glad you all enjoyed.. I agree with Vic, would be a lot more demanding and interesting with a bit of weather thrown in.
Regards,
Andy.

I'm sure that could be arranged. :)
How soon before the flight would you like to know the winds aloft?

Ben

Can and will do. Perhaps we can run this same flight on 07-10-04 with weather.
