"Connecting Smiths FMS to FS2002?"

Posted by Stephan24 on 04-16-04 at 08:50z
I'd like to connect a Smiths Aerospace Flight Management Computer (runs on PC, usually used for pilot training) to the FS2002 for visualization of the outer environment. The Simulation runs in the FMS, the Fs2002 should just delliver the secenery outside. Both programs run on differnet Computers now.
Does anybodv know, how I can "remote-control" the FS2002 with the FMS? Thanks!

Greetings:

It's probably possible, but not without a lot of effort. Off the top of my head, there are two ways to go:

1. You'd need something like FSUIPC on the FS2002 side.

2. You connect of FS2002 through the multiplayer/DirectPlay mode.

Either way, the hard part is you'll either have to recode the output of SAFMC or build a translation program so it'll talk to FSUIPC or DirectPlay. It won't be easy.
