"VPC Planes"

Greetings!

Back in the Zone days, we had a standard set of freeware airplanes that RallyRat put together called Z-Planes. The concept was to have a standard set of airplanes that folks could use to fly with online. As you know, unless every player in a multiplayer session has the same airplane on their system, it won't appear correctly to the others.

Because the folks flying in our regularly scheduled flights have a few favorite "rides," what is everyone's thoughts about coming up with a set of V-Planes?

If we go ahead and do this, what we'll need to do is make up a list of freeware FS2K4 planes and gather up permissions from the developers to package them together. (Unfortunately, without permissions, we won't be including them in the standardized package--which would defeat the intended purpose.)

So if you'd like your favorite airplane (that old saying that "my favorite aircraft is the one that I'm flying at the time" doesn't count!) :) to be included, I suppose we could add messages to this thread with the aircraft, file name, where you downloaded it, author, and contact email address and we'll see if we can get permissions.

Thanks!

Ben

Hi Emile:

> I have no "prefered" machine, may I suggest to include a Heli ??

You can suggest one. But please keep the concept of package in mind. The idea is to have aircraft that regulars of our flights use, so others can see their aircraft properly. So if it's not something you fly regularly or that others will fly, there's little point in including it.

Right now, we've only received one suggestion for an aircraft and we've already been granted permission to include it in our package. One of the problems we have is the folks that fly or chat regularly with us don't participate on the forums here (my guess is we exchange news at those times), so it may seem like no one is interested or flies regularly, but that's not the case.

Thanks!

Ben

Greetings Emile:

Thanks for the suggestions. Where did you download this from?

Unfortunately, if we can't find Linden and get his permission, we won't be able to include the aircraft in our package. Do you have any other suggestions that we'd be able to include?

Thanks!

Ben

Hello Ben,
I did download the aircraft from
www.hovercontrol.com
"FS2002 Boeing/McDonnell Douglas Explorer902 By Linden Hoyle. Featuring dynamic rotor disc conning angle, cylic/main disc tilt, animated turbine inspection doors, animated NOTAR nozzle & vertical stabilizers.
Fully animated model including VC, thermal camera and offset side spotlight.
2 helis within package. 1 with winch & 1 without.
Full IFR and VFR compatibility.
Linden Hoyle c2003.
Hunt, drag and flap home."

The file is md902explorer.zip, if you search "explorer" it points to.

I expect that hovercontrol site will give you more information concerning the author.

It flys like a charm in FS9.

Hi Emile, Ben,

Does the MD902 fly well in FSCOF?? I done a search on it a few days ago and it's an FS98/2000 aircraft!

G,day guys,

A thought for the KSBP control tower and all the regular Sat.2000 pilots.
In addition to aircraft could the scenery file(s)of the Central Ca. Coast (Like Al Wheelers excellent CCCoast files)
Land class files for the Area , be included. I personally feel that Al,s 2k2 CCCoast made flying in the area that much more realistic. ie we can,t all crowd round the fuel bowser when Al,s aircraft are lined up there :)
Aircraft suggestions:-CES310zip (Simviation) by Chuck Dome

Will call San Luis Control Sat. :)

Andy

Greetings Andy:

Thanks for the aircraft suggestion. I found the file, but it seems Chuck's email address has changed. His website is also no where to be found.

Does anyone know how to contact Chuck?

Re: SBP scenery for FS2K4, Al Wheeler said that the FS2K2 version is not compatible with 04, but he's working on an 04 version. Stay tuned and we'll let everyone know when he's got something for us.

OK, nevermind about Chuck's email address. Vic pointed out that Chuck's releases are are public domain, so he's essentially given his permission already.

Actually, since Chuck has been so kind to release his work like this, it make sense to include as many of Chuck's planes as everyone wants. It would really simplify things for us.
