"Can't find scenic sites on Pilot's map in MS FS 2004??"

Hi

I am new to to your board and new to MS flight sim 2004. IT is a great sim, but it has one BIG MAJOR problem. The pilot maps don't show you where the famous scenic sites are located. For instance; I took off from West Cairo, Egypt airport in my Piper cub and headed east towards the Nile river. I was looking for the Pyramids and the great Sphinx. They were nowhere to be found? So I followed the Nile north all the way up. Still I was unable to find the pyramids???

This is what is soooooo frustrating about this sim. The maps show where ALL the airports are, big or small, but fail to show you where major scenic sites are. Is there a web page that has a listing of what cities are near these these great scenic sites? It took me an hour to find Boulder dam yesterday from Las Vegas airport. I love the sim, but what good is it, if all you can do is hop from one airport to another, without being able to know where the notable scenic sites are? I am new at this and so if anyone has any tips or info at all, please help. You can personally email me or just reply to my post.Thank you.

Well, I share your frustration and can only tell you what I do. If I want to see the Taj Mahal, for example, I first go to google and look it up. It will usually say something like - "12 miles SW of Agra" - then I go from there. there MAY be a site that lists all the scenics but I haven't heard of one.

Nearby airports and VOR fixes for Giza Pyramids, Hoover Dam (was renamed back to Hoover at some point after Roosevelt administration), Taj Mahal and several other landmarks are on the FlightAdventures Flight Simulation Adventures page.
