Hi Pete and other attendees

Just seen Pete's pic of those at this year's UK Fltsim show. Sadly I was unable to be there this year. I've had a lot going on domestically recently and my attendance at this year's show was one of the casualties. Nice to be reminded of your faces though. With luck I'll meet up with you all again next year.

Hi Paul,

I wonder if your ears were burning? As we congregated for that group shot a chap walked by who was the image of you. A couple of others thought it was you too until he walked right past us.

You were missed and I hope to see you there next year. Make sure you arrive before 10am - the traffic was horrendous around the show when we arrived late at 11.15am because of a junction closure on the M6 around Birmingham.

It could have been Paul you know......that bunch in the photograph look
a little suspicious to me....I wouldn't buy a used car from any of them.
I would have walked right past, also <g>

Sorry you were unable to make it this year, Paul.

There was one young lady there handing out giveaways for some shoot-em-up
or other. She had approached Lee and myself earlier, and appeared rather
taken aback when both of us replied 'We do not play games' <g>.

I suppose we could have asked her to join the group !

Nice to meet you all once more.

Hi Bill,

<,that bunch in the photograph look

LOL!

<<There was one young lady there handing out giveaways ...>>

I assume that was the rather well-endowed young lady in a blue uniform that appeared to be at least 2 sizes too small! Thankfully, I wasn't approached!

Pete sent me some pictures which I tried to send to you but the address Ihave for you is invalid. If you send a message to RayProudfoot@BTInternet.com I'll send them to you.

Yes, that one ! Her face was a picture when we replied...she probably wondered what we were doing there, if we had no interest in games..but then she wouldn't have known that we do not consider that FS is not a game !

What...of the young lady ? Oops...Oh... you mean of the show ?..<g>

Thanks Ray...email on the way.

Hi Bill,

<<..but then she wouldn't have known that we do not consider that FS is not a game !>>

Absolutely!Actually FS is becoming more popular with the fairer sex. A few years ago I spotted a lone female - this year there must have been at least 6 - an increase of 600%!!

Pics gratefully received except the one of the car park - aarrgghh!!!

Ha ! Got to watch what I say here <g> but I heard one couple discussing
one of those excellent looking consoles with its projection screen
running FS2002. I heard the female ask the question 'but how much would
that be ?' I slid away quietly...I hate the sight of blood...<g>

Yes. Thought you'd like that one !

Hi Ray

>If you send a message to RayProudfoot@BTInternet.com

How are you getting on with ADSL? I've just applied for Pipex's ADSL Home service and am eagerly looking forward to its arrival and connection sometime within the next 2 weeks. Is it something I should be getting excited about?

Hi Paul,

Absolutely! An always-on connection is wonderful. It seems perfect for FS. Once I get some free time I intend to start on-line flying which should enhance the experience considerably.

Just make sure you have a good firewall program. I use ZoneAlarm which is free and excellent. You can find it here...www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp

That's one of the main reasons I've gone for it - though there are business considerations as well (at least, that's what I'll be telling the VAT man :-))

I've been running ZoneAlarm for a good few months now. I like it. Is it as good as it seems?

It seems to be. I see no need to upgrade to the Pro version.

PMFJI Paul,

I have been running ZoneAlarm for some years now, even when I was on dial-up, and like Ray I find it satisfactory.

I think you only need the pro version if you want to get more technical with it and start individually configuring the ports.

Also it goes without saying, a good AV as well, and keep the sig files up to date ;-)

Hi Ray and Vulcan

Thanks for the confirmation re ZoneAlarm. That and Norton AV will hopefully keep my system secure. NortonAV has saved my system from getting infected a few times now. A decent product.

Hi Paul,

I use AVG anti-virus and have no problems with it and it's free :-), no need to change but for those who don't want to pay for AV the web site is www.grisoft.com

Hi Vulcan,

<,Should I expect emails and phone calls then Ray ? >>

Don't hold your breath Dave. It's not that I don't want the benefit of your advice - which I intend to call upon at a suitable moment -it's the problem of lack of time.

Christmas is closing fast cutting into spare time and having a full-time job leaves me pretty tired during weekday evenings. Weekends or Friday evenings in the New Year hold out the best bet for a demo of your skills. I'm a firm believer in a practical demonstration rather than reading through reams of paperwork.

Hi Paul..

> Ah the ignorance of some ...<

True. I'm delighted that Bob Sidwick didn't include 'Games' in his event title....maybe he knew that would turn us 'virtual flyers' off the event <g>

But I'm biased, of course. 'We' do not play games.

I suppose, though, that commercially, computer 'games' is (are ?) what bring(s) in the cash...judging by the show stands over the last few years. There is probably no comparison between the numbers that just 'fly' and those that make up the gaming community.

Sorry you could not make it this year.

I try to find at least one compelling item to head for each year. This year it was the Getmapping/Just Flight stand, with their VFR scenery for the UK. As a result I'm flying over some excellent VFR scenery, and have placed my order for the remaining three releases. Now to get to grips with GMax and start compiling....

Forgot to update my UK charts, though :-(

There's such a lot to do !

And so little time to do it. Just as I've managed to reach a stage where I have a clear week ahead of me, my wife (bless her dear, sweet heart) has reminded me that the kitchen is in need of a repaint. Looks like I won't be getting much flying done for the next few days.

I usually aim for 10am. With any m-way junction closure the traffic must have been horrendous. You have my sympathy.

Greetings gatsby:

I don't know the official name of the show, but it's the annual Flight Sim show that takes place in the United Kingdom at some motorcycle museum. I'm sure one of the others has the details or link to the site that promotes it.
