Hi Guy's,

Unfortunately I'm unable to be around for the flight rally. We could either fly it without me or postpone it till the which will be the 20th. Please let me know what you would like to do.

Sorry again but.....

Family told you you had to come along or you would be carried to the car by some of your former mates? :)

Where were we going?

Greetings James:

I'd like to hear what the others want, but my vote would be to re-schedule (wouldn't be the same without you). :)

Hi Ben, et al,

OK, will make the decision to postpone the rally till the following week (20th Oct 2002) every thing else stays the same :-)

TD, The flight rally is to Ferihegy - Budapest - Hungary (LHBP. See ANNOUNCEMENT VPC Flight Rally #9 for further details my friend.

Emile, Are you using FSNav on a networked pc or on the main pc? I had this from one of my networked pc's and can't remember exactly how I fixed it but try re-building the database.

Hi James,
I only have 1 PC , it is always on the network via the TV Cable to our Internet Service provider , this config did work for weeks and all is OK as long as I do not request Multiplayer in FSNav.

IT world is the most unpredictable world, that's why I like it (even after more than 36 years in this world)

Hi Emile,

Roger that but have you tried running FSNavDBC.exe again and trying multiplayer?

If that fails try an uninstall reinstall of FSNav.

Hey James,

Ok, looks like I may well be able to participate in my first VPC Rally!<g>

I am going to be off duty on 20th (assuming the wife does not drop our second child at the time!) and I guess I'm asking what do you guys do here with the Rallies? Do you have any online stuff?

I'll certainly fly the Rally and report in the usual way and hopefully get some pictures as well.

Take care,

Hi Lee,

Thought you'd emigrated :-). I tend to depart Leeds Bradford or Manchester for the Rallies. I start the flight from the Flight Terminal (obtainable from the main page) Create the flight which then auto starts Flight Sim. Once flight sim is up and running I then start RW then carry out all the pre flight checks, FMC programming etc. I'm on ADSL so I fly the whole route on line (yet to get to use SB, have it installed but not done a flight with it yet).

If any one wishes to join the flight (and prior to you starting FS) you log into VPC then navigate to the flight terminal page. You will see the flight number of any active flight. Bring up the flight you want to join and activate. It will auto start FS for you. Once up and running, away you go.

At the moment I tend to fly the PIC 767 (as I have it working with the Project Magenta Software) but will probably change to the PSS 747 or 777 once the availability of using the PM software patch is done.

Hope to see you in the sky my friend.

Hi James,

Thanks for the response! No, I have not emmigrated yet! The wife is about to drop our second child in the next 2 weeks (27th October) so I'm busy planning!

Thanks for the info. Not sure I understand it all yet. I usually start and then set up FS myself before I go online.
I don't have Broadband yet (waiting for BT t upgrade the exchange down here) so its dial up.

:-( Just found out that I'll now be working days on the 20th so I'll fly the flight on the 19th and take pics and file a report.

I will be home about 19:30 local time on the 20th after work - do you still have the on-line conference at 19:00 GMT (20:00 local) and if so how do I log in to the conference room mate?

Cheers,

Hi Lee,

No problem mate.

As to the chat's yep times are right, in the Pilots Lounge right after the flight. To get there you will need to set this up to make sure you can get in prior to the chat. When you log onto the site you have a GUI in the top half of the screen and option box's in the lower half. You can select either the black sofa or the chat button. On the next page you need to follow any instruction shown i.e. you will have to run VPC_cfg.exe.

You can then scroll down a few lines to Chat Schedule - Pilot Lounge Chat and click on Launch.

If you want RW then click on the VoiceCom box to launch RW. Another way to launch RW in the right Frequency is to start RW and click on Join and enter the following 66.180.233.61/122.95

Any further assistance you need give us a shout.

If Carolyn has the baby one day sooner on Oct 26th it will be on the last day that Gen Chuck Yeager breaks the sound barrier in an Air Force aircraft. At Edwards AFB, California.

In any case, hope the baby comes in just the right time, whenever that is, and that everything goes smoothly and that everyone is healthy.

Give our best wishes to Carolyn. :-)

Morning James,
I plan to fly from EBBR Brussels, AVRO RJ 85 "Brussels Airlines" FL 240 (flight plan ready), it's almost 2 hours flight so I plan to join your session in the flight terminal
and hope to "see" you in FSNav. At what time (GMT) do you plan to take-off?

Hi Emile

>> At what time (GMT) do you plan to take-off? <<

Just checked with FSNav and PM's FMC and it's about a 2 and a 1/2 hour flight. So I intend to log the flight in the Flight Terminal at about 16:30 BST which I think <S> is 15:30zulu. See you in the air hopefully.

You had a flight up tonight and again I couldn't log into it!!!! I know its not me as I then started a Multiplayer session and logged into Squawkbox and Whazzup with no problems. Therefore I will post my IP on the board for folk that can't log in via the flight terminal. You will then at least be able to log onto me via MP.

Just as a reminder, you can post your IP address in the Flight Info window in the Flight Terminal as well. Also, your IP address (the host's that is) will automatically show up in the Launcher window for all players attempting to join a flight.

Understand this <s> but, tonight when I tried to log into Emiles flight EVERY box was BLACK except for the Top Left box!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just cannot understand why I can start a MP session with NO problem whatsoever YET, when I attempt to log on to a flight in progress ZILCH, can't get in?!?!

In all honesty I can't see any difference in starting the flight from the Flight Terminal or from a multiplayer session. I either use my IP if I start the flight or use the session creators IP if I join the flight.

I know the problem isn't my end as previously stated I had a) grabbed my e-mail, visited my newsgroups and done a VPC pass with the OLR. b) Started I.E. and logged into the site and then into the Flight Terminal and launched the flight - couldn't log into the session. c) Started a MP session along with 2 other programmes on networked pc's with no problem. d) done another VPC pass and Newsgroup pass etc with no problem.

The only thing I haven't tried (and am reluctant to while logged on) is deactivate McAfee VirusScan and Firewall.

This post would probably be better off in VPC Tech rather than in here so will reply in that forum if needed <s>.

Hi James,

deactivate McAfee VirusScan and Firewall.<<

The firewall is the most likely culprit. Next time, shut it down just to see if you can get in. If you can, then we can go ahead and open the appropriate ports, so you won't have to shut it down the next time.

Hi Mike,

Just logged on for a test log in to Flight Terminal. Initial Launch Fly Now from the Flight Control box and up pops the Flight 01 - VPC Launcher dialog Box. In this you have Application = Flight Simulator 2002. Pilot = BLACK BOX. Flight Name = BLACK BOX. IP Address = BLACK BOX. Flight Sim starts OK and in Multiplayer. This works with both McAfee Firewall and Microsofts.

Now, close the MP session and close every I.E. box back to the desktop. Start I.E. again. Log into the Flight Terminal and this time Flight 01 - VPC Launcher comes up just as a yellow box with a small icon in the top left hand corner, it states after a while that the launch was successful BUT no flight sim!!!

It's the same even if there isn't a firewall running!!!

Hello Guys,
Yes I had a training flight this evening, sorry I did not see your tentative "chat", I was in full screen and having diner (my wife refuses to bring me some food when I am "playing" LOL)......
I will wait until you are visible in the flight terminal and join your flight using your IP address

Hi Lee,

Just thought that with the problems you've had previously in the VPC do you want to try a Flight within the Flight Terminal before the Rally. Just give me a shout and we'll set one up for you to log into. Will also give us a bit of time to iron out any problems you might have.
