Here are some more photos of Tarmack's "little project." My question is, "I see you have the NFL, but where's the cup holder, Mel?" :)

Ben,

Thanks for the help in posting those photo's of my "hangout"....an area shared by my dog, Curtiss the Wonder Mutt. His little doggy "bed" is under a rather large leather chair that sits at the far left rear.....replicating the "extra crew" seat of the real bird.

There are many things left to do yet in this cockpit.....an overhead panel WITH 'call button' to the "wife/warden" for coffee.........and then I plan to "up" the original Boeing cockpit that did provide a cup holder.......but this cockpit will have a MUG HOLDER.

The mug is a technological marvel.......it can keep hot things HOT, and cold things COLD. I don't know how it does that...but it always works. Grin.

Seriously, if you can call me that, I just rec'd a real Boeing "flashlight".....that will be mounted on my left side cockpit "wall" and I also plan to mount a small fire extinguisher in the approximate area it was in the real cockpit........along with a "dummy" phone handset.

To this point, the "warden' has nixed my plans to hang a "fire/crash axe" on the rear wall of this room <g>

Regards,

Cap'n Tarmack

she probably didn't nix it on anything you did, but because she might be tempted to use it after the 7th "call button" usage of the morning. :)

WOW!, amazing mate, where did you get all your parts from, like the center control panels?

Gobsmacked Sam!

Sam,

Everything pictured comes from GoFlight....except for the CDU...and that is a one of a kind built by Rob Howard of Oviedo Florida........my old partner of the PFD days.

I think Goflight is now featured on AVSIM and SIMFLIGHT in the past couple of days with news announcements.....and their products are superior for the price.

Mel

Hi Mel,

Have you taken a look at pfc.com and their systems :-) Only thing wrong with them are their prices.

Regards,

James.

James,

Agreed........the prices are too high for a 'gamer' and in my opinion, the software and cockpit design(have you EVER seen a Captain instrument panel with the ND on the LEFT of the PFD??) are too low for a professional firm.

I am sure they will sell the prototype.......but I wouldn't want to have to enter a bid. Grin.

Regards,

Mel

Hi Mel,

Never noticed that but have now :-) They have them the wrong way around :-) The Centre Consol can be purchased seperately but although I've actually seen and used it (thank's Pete) I think it's still a bit over priced.

I'm contemplating the Goflight stuff but haven't made up my mind as to exactly what I need and how to arrange it all :-) Another way of going is using an EPIC Card/USB Device and build all your own set up.

My set up although not brilliant :-) I'm getting all my pc's together first before actually arranging them as they should be.

James.

Mel,

I think you have Matrox DualHead Video Cards so how do you manage to say have a forward right and right view from the same pc without losing momentum so to speak :-)

Regards,

James.

p.s. RCSimulations in the UK sell the Goflight hardware and I think it's a bit on the expensive side as they are selling it in £'s the same as you would buy it in $'s. Not what I would call fair.

James,

RE Your PS.

With current exchange rates it is a lot fairer than before, especially when you add in the dreaded VAT, mind you we have always been ripped off in the UK for most things :-(
