"vpcOLR Error"

Posted by hawkwind on 02-14-07 at 14:58z
Hi Guy's,

Installed Perl, Mysql and vcp OLR. Then ran mysqld-nt --install. On trying to Start SQL in Services I keep getting ERROR 1067 - Process Terminated Unexpectedly.

Uninstalled everything and tried to uninstall SQL from Services but cant.

Reinstalled the 3 progs but still get the error.

Any ideas?

James.

Check your firewall. SQL communicates via ports.

Even with the firewall off still no go. Looked in the root dir for my.cnf (or ini) and its not there.

how can you remove mysql from the list of services to reinstall?

May need someone to e-mail me a copy of the missing file.

If I recall correctly, the install routine is just a straight copy files. So you can install/reinstall all day long and not leave garbage around.

Silly question: You're installing from an admin account, right?

Which file are you missing? I don't have any files in my root folder.

Keep trying every so often with installs as per the MySQL install for Win XP then going to Services and starting MySql which returns an "Error 1067-the process terminated unexpectedly" on every install.

Installing from the 2 files (MySql and Perl) from your download page. Installation was as per your install instructions for XP. Never had this problem when I installed on any previous installs although I did install on different pc's in the past.

I done a web search on the error 1067 and reading through them all it only shows that there should be a my.cnf or ini file pointing to the locations of the lib's... If it does'nt then run the Security Centre's "setup.exe" file to create it, but, I can't find the command to run this file from within the security centre.

Andy.

Never heard of anyone having this problem either.

More silly questions: Did you receive any error after executing C:\mysql\bin\mysqld-nt.exe --install?

Nothing... I have it installed on D: Drive and that's where I had it installed on a couple of previous pc's with no problem.

Well, just for giggles, see what happens if you install it on drive c:

Hi Guy's,

Nice chatting to you all last night/this morning <s> and thought I'd start off here <s> as still having problems and never got around to bringing the subject up.

Installed all 3 prog's to drive d: started the OLR and set it up to start passes from 01/01/2007. It starts collecting posts from day one from the looks of things. During the pass I get a lot of "Skipped not in overview" and another "Use of uninitialized etc" (see uploaded file vpc-01.jpg)

After completing the pass and clicking on "mark forum read" every thread is removed from the view box? but comes back if you cancel! Close the programme and I get the error "access violation" (see uploaded file vpc-03.jpg)

Leave it a while and then reopen and try to do a pass again I get the error "Eaccessviolation"

I know Ben mentioned whether I was accessing with an admin account which i'm not sure. I'm using my hawkwind and password issued.

Reinstalled again on a second pc with exactly the same results.

Hope I can get this sorted <g>.

James (hawkwind) Anderson

Hi James:

Was great to see you too.

You know, I seem to recall that the OLR won't work on any drive other than C: unless you jump through a few hoops (none of which I can recall, but there's probably a thread about it here in VPC Tech). Greenie was the one who figured out how to install it elsewhere and make it work. I believe he wrote up some instructions some where about how to do it.

Hi Ben,

Sure has me stumped, as the pc's I did have when with the "B" they were all installed on the D: drive with no probs. Didn't have to do much other than install and run <s>.

Tried an install on C: but couldn't get mysql within Services to point to C: as it was pointing to D: and I can't figure out how to redo it so it looks for it on the C: drive.

Will try and locate Greenie's post on it.

Thanks anyway,

Regards,

James.

YooooooooooooooooH,

It now works after rereading threads in VCP Tech.

Problem. There is a fault on the VCP OLR Downloads page as when you select to download OLR.pl v1.83 upgrade it responds with "URL does not exist" so didn't bother with it. WRONG - you need it!!!!

Remedy. Go to VPC Tech and then go to thread "OLR 1.83 upgrade released" and there is a link to the file. Grab it and install it <G>

Regards,

James.
