"Dynamic Weather added to PWF"

Posted by Ben_Chiu on 01-17-04 at 04:34z
Greetings:

We've added some dynamic weather to the Persistent World Flight (Flights 1 and 4) in the Flight Terminal. Weather will change approximately every hour. What we've got set up at this point is "weather" for half of the day 2355z to 1200z, and clear skies after that.

We're still working on getting real weather to run in the PWF. Keep in mind this is just a test so you can ignore ATIS in these flights for now (they're not connected).

Have fun and knock off some of that IFR rust before heading out into IMC! :)

Hello,
I did test PWF and ActiveSky 2004 together , there is a conflict the weather changes every 2 seconds (clouds are coming up, the clouds are removed , ...) when AS is closed the weather is "calm".

The weather is set for calm 12 hours of the day. You must have joined in during one of the calm periods. The "weather" starts from about 2355z to about 1200z and changes approximately every hour.

Yes, I would think something like AS would interfere/conflict with the PWF weather. But you have to keep in mind that the concept here is to fly in the same weather that everyone else in the session is flying in. With AS, only those with AS running will have that weather.

We're working on it... :)

Is there a way to get FS to ignore the persistant flight's weather and still be in the flight? There have been times I wanted to test something in multiplayer or just wanted to be in the persistant flight in case someone wanted to fly multiplayer and the visability has been too bad to fly in.

No, but I think it may be possible to change the weather temporarily (it should remain until the next scheduled weather change) through the web admin function. I'll check it out and will let you know.

If you have particular times and days you'd like the weather changed, let me know what they are and what weather you'd like and we can make the changes. What we currently have now are just some random cycles. They can be changed at any time.
