"Flight 1 server updated"

Greetings:

We've just installed Beta 2 for the Persistent Flight World server. This version increases stability and fixes some timing problem that caused some folks to randomly not be able to see other players.

Notes:

- We still don't have the FS2004 Launcher online. You can join the session manually using the IP listed in Flight Info.

- There's a bug in FS2K2 that hides FS2004 players from being scene if the FS2K2's session is launched using our launcher. If you connect to the session manually (again, using the IP listed in Flight Info), you'll be able to see everyone.

Thanks!

Ben

Hello Ben,

Testing the new version :
1/ at start (via the Launcher) when the Chat Window appairs (VoiceCom) it says :
"*Admin (FSHost 3.0b2): Emile is flying the à)l"

à)l ??? in my opinion this is due to the fact that there is no aircraft selected yet , afterward it is correctly updated
2/ Any idea why a drop in FPS , in local (not MP) I have 30 FPS (the limit I did input) to 25 FPS most of the time , does MP impact FPS that much?

Ah, what this new version does is "translates" certain aircraft for others. What we're able to do is, for example, configure the server to show aircraft X on other player's systems when another player is flying aircraft Y. Because you didn't have an aircraft selected, it didn't know what to do.

Yes, there's a frame hit, but how much really depends on a number of factors. I seem to recall losing 3-4 frames in MP mode (worse case), so you're not too far off. We can tweak a setting on the server to increase frames, but this same setting also affects how compatible we can make both FS2K2 and FS2K4 games in the same session.

Thanks for the report!

Ben
