"OLR V2.1 Problem"

Posted by JohnSDavison on 10-12-02 at 11:45z
Hi folks,
I've just tried to install the OLR V2.1 upgrade and have hit a problem. I ran OLR18-setup.exe then VPCOLR21upgrade.exe and discovered a new VPC_OLR folder had been created inside the original one. The program wouldn't run as it said it couldn't find libmysql.dll. The latter was in the original VPC_OLR folder so it looked as if all the upgrade files should have been installed there. So I copied them into that folder, replacing the original versions. The program would now run OK.

I then tried an online test, and the first Get/Send Pass seemed to go OK until it got to the Please Disconnect from Dialup message. This was followed by the following series of messages:

Invalid Username - Aborting
ACARS has caused an error in <unknown>
ACARS has caused an error in <unknown> (message appeared twice)
ACARS has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. ACARS will now close.

No messages seem to have been retrieved even though the Get/Send Pass said there were messages there. I tried several times with similar results. The first time resulted in Windows crashing, but after rebooting any subsequent attempt resulted in the above messgaes but no Windows crash. Any idea what's going on here?

My system is running Windows ME with Internet connection via AOL. My previous version of the OLR was running without problems.

Regards....John

Greetings John:

ACARS is now case sensitive. Open VPC OLR, File: Login, and change your username to reflect what you registered your username as case-wise.

Let's see if we can solve one problem at a time. Did ACARS ask to download and install? Are you able to log into ACARS automatically when you log on the site through your browser?

Yes, my username has capital letters in it. That seems to have done the trick - I'm not getting the "ACARS has caused an error in <unknown>" any more either, so it looks like all is well now. Thanks for your help.
